While jumpstarting a car someone reversed polaroity.Now the car starts and runs but when I turn a key toon position control lights do not come onI have foud burded small wire of the battery terminal +after rewiring it back works fine but when i start the carthe wire gets very hot ,so there must be a short somewherebut why only when the engine is running?.Miro

If that's the case, it sounds like it would have to be a short after the ignition circuit.

Did you use the same gauge wire when you replaced it? Did you replace the whole wire or just the burnt section you found?

Sounds like it might have been a fusible link?

I have used smoller wire to be safe,but there is a short for shure the insutation starts melting and gets very hot.

I take it smaller wire = smaller gauge (bigger physical wire than factory).

You are going to have to trace that wire back. It is grounded somewhere. Not fun, but that's about all you can do.
