OK guys and gals,I do not mean to bore the hell out of ya'll but I need a little advise . So here goes. I have a 89 240sx hatchback with 131K miles on it . It is burning oil it is either leaking by the valve seats or the piston rings. I would like to rebuild the engine and add a turbo to it ,but I am unsure on whether rebuild with stock parts (to save a little money ) or replace with H.P. parts. If i rebuild with stock parts will they hold up to the pressure of the turbo. I do not want to replace the engine with another one from a wreck or anything, i'll just use the engine thats in there. Has anyone out there ever done this before and if so what were the results. I am thinking that if it is the valve seals that are bad then i'll just have a valve job done on it . Or should I go ahead and replace the piston rings while I am at it ? What other parts should I replace ?

I really thank you all for being here to answer these questions

does your car have a bunch of white smoke at start up if so then it is your valves. If not then its your rings, or something else.
