I may have mis-read and made a bit of a mistake on my rebuild...

I purchased a remanufactured head for my ca18det from alabama cylinder heads when I was rebuilding my ca and obviously being I'm stateside, I got one for the N/A ca. I had asked and made sure that the head was going to work. I didn't think much of the cams that came in the head  So I put it together using the N/A cams.

My question is: Are the N/A cams different than the DET cams? I searched and couldn't find much for specs for the N/A cams.

Reason being: I have a wierd timing related(I think) issue. If I have it set to the factory setting, it stumbles around at lower rpms and then clears up around 2500. Seems to run good past there, although I haven't pushed it much. If I advance the timing a couple degrees it seems to run better at lower rpms and then stumble a little but not as bad at around 3500k.

I'm just kinda stumped. Don't really know where to go from here.

Thanks!

Thanks I couldn't find anything when I searched. Makes sense that I'm having timing issues then... Any suggestions?

If I bought adjustable cam gears and compensated for the base timing difference in the exhaust cam would that work? Makes sense to me in my head but I don't want to make another mistake.

Can someone tell me if that would work or not? The only reason I'm not trying to source a different exhaust cam is the one in my head is freshly machined.

Does what I'm asking not make sense or just no one is sure on an answer?

Well, I ordered a set of adjustable cam gears last night and I guess I'll see if I can sort this out or not. I talked to one of my buddies who's built a lot of dsm's and what not, he was pretty confident I should be able to get it dialed in.
