i have a stock sr with fmic, blow off valve, 3' piping, the gauges blah blah blah, but i want like 20 to 50 more HP, i don't want to put the bottom end of my sr in ANY danger, so if i was to upgrade turbo, what would be the highest amount of boost i could turn it up to ?

or if you have any other suggestions on how to make more HP with like around $500

up the boost to something like 10psi. you could do a little more but you'll really be pushing that aging t25 and working those injectors and mafs.

i would rather not turn up the boost, that t25 actually is aging, it was smoking a bit meaning that the seals on it are not that great :[

look in the classifieds section, i know i've seen a few sr20 upgrade turbos for sale. also check the for sale section on carolinanissans.com there was a gt2871 for sale on there for about $400 IIRC. after that just upgrade the injectors and run a FMIC and you're golden. its not going to be cheap, but it's more cost effective than trying to buy all new parts.

well... if you dont care about looks.... I have a 91 that i have stripped every last bit of fat from and am safely running 13.5psi on the stock turbo (redtop Sr w/similar bolt-ons) although there isnt ALOT to be saved in terms of weight, it does pull noticeably harder especially when you only got a quarter tank or so of gas. (but good luck getting traction in 1-2)

(My deuce is also my daily driver and i dont get annoyed by the extra road noise or anything, but its all in your preference, or further, if this is your daily driver or not.)

just a hard day of stripping and gutting if you go for it...oh yea, and dont plan on having any backseat riders cuz those seats cant be excluded!

the SR is pretty stout. i'd say 300 to 350hp would be about all you would want to push on a DD, even then who knows how long it will last at that power level. Depends on tuning. You def wont get that out of the stock turbo though.
