uh oh, my 1990's got an oil leak, and considering it left about 2.5 qts of oil on the asphalt over the course of one night, i figure this leak is major. only problem... okay, a few problems. it's the holiday weekend, who the fudge is open? two, i've got work from 7am to 11pm monday. three, my gf's car is due for repair on tuesday, so my car is the only available vehicle to use... that leaves wednesday. and a pint of oil a day till its fixed. shiiiieeeeet.

oh, here's the cool thing about the leak. i can't find a damn source. the head gasket is good. cant see any leak from looking down into the bay. going underneath the car solves nothing. the only place it looks like a leak could be coming from is where the transmission connects to the engine... that gasket was changed too, so its SUPPOSED to be good. ah, here's the strange thing. you know the oil that HAS leaked out already? it looks like s***, black and thick. and since i'm supposed to be low on oil, i'd usually hear that engine knock sound, but they're strangely absent. coworker said it may be one of my hoses. i didn't know there were oil hoses...

anyone have any ideas as to what it may be until i can get that s*** checked out wednesday? i dont want to sound like a dumbass to the mechanic.

ah, and if anyone's from the south bay, ca, got a mechanic i could trust my baby to?

alright, so it's been a while and i still have that leak. brought it to the shop to get it checked out and outtowinpahc was right about it being the rear main seal. only reason why i haven't gotten it fixed yet is cause i don't have $460 to drop, even on a credit card. So while i'm waiting to get the money, I wanted to double check with you guys that I'd be getting the right item, only so that when I bring it back to the shop, they don't charge me like $50 or something for the part.

I'm looking at the Fel-Pro part, the rear main seal set, for only $11. Is that the correct one? When I search for "rear main seal" on ebay or google, I get multiple links on the crankshaft seal, oil seal, and transmission seal, but I'm not sure which one is correct. Just a little help here guys? Thanks
