Okay, im sure you've heard this once or twice in your 240. Under heavy breaking and between hard shifts there's a loud clunk and shake comin out of the rear of the car. I say it's my rear end mounts but i wanted to know if any of you guys have diagnosed this problem before. That way i don't go blowin doe on stuff that aint broked!:bshake

Sounds like subframe bushings to me... But it could be other bushings as well, or a combination of bushings and rotors under braking :)

Take a look at the 4 subframe bushings for signs of deterioration, and if found you have a few options. New subframe from nissan (they dont sell bushings), poly bushings requiring a drop remove and press, metal bushings :), pineapples from pdm, or a variety of metal spacers.

I run an 11.33$ set of 8 (2 in each loacation for a total of 16) upper and lower front and rear ghetto spacers, or flat washers :)

Oh wait lime creek motor sports should carry them too.... I have to say it as they, um frequent here.

The other is PDM racing .

Those are for the whiteline poly pineapples. They are a bit more then I care for, as its just a slip over poly bushing, and not even a full bushing.

I went solid (or ghetto solid, one day Ill go with alum cnc spacers or solid bushings for the weight factor!!!), as its basically the same ease of install about the same price. Plus you get to hear the cool sound the diff makes, oh and the solidness of metal is nice as well.

SPL parts sells both in the 240 section, spacers and solid inserts (replaces the entire subframe bushing). Note only one or the other is needed :) As you can see for the price of a few poly pineapples, you can get the full metal bushing spacers... BTW these are exactly like the kazama units as they used to stock them then um borrowed the specs and sent it to their machinist.

Go metal if you need it, Im glad I did. BTW I didnt "need" them but .5 seconds delay in the rear end on the slaloms irritates the hell out of me :)

I gotta be honest, im pretty new to the mechanical side of things. I know alot about general problems and what causes problems with the car but as far as getting down to the science of things im pretty dumb. I gotta repair manual and i've learned alot from it but im still affraid to get in there and get dirty. I don't wanny screw anything up.
