Just what the title say, just finish with a rebuild on my 1993 Ka24de,it also smell like gas in the oil before the headgasket pop,I did search the forums most came out with the sr20,and it said it could be a stuck or leaking injector, could a higher output fuel pump cause this or should I stick with a leaking injector.

It's probably just because your rings haven't seated in yet. Give it time. If you're still getting a gassy smell after the traditional 1000 mile break in period, then there's cause to worry.

Your the second person that tell me that so,I'm going to wait till the 1000miles, and see what happens, and my fuel pressure is stock, the only major upgrade where the pistons and the cams.this is my first time I did a rebuild, useing this forum, and FSM for the torque and stuff,

if it is a leaky injector it'll do more harm than good breaking in those rings.

do not wait 1k there is somthing wrong .. you are at the very least running rich .. you need to figure it out or your rings will never seat properly .. not to mention how fast fuel can wipe bearings out .. pull your fuel rail off with the injectors still in place key on and off and see if you have a leaky injector .. if you ahve a regulator make sure its set right.. this could be somthing cheap to fix that could cost you a motor in the long run .. what were your ring gaps??

So I'll pull out my fuel rail with injectors still on,and just turn the key on and off and if i see gas coming out of any of the four injectors.and if I do i have a leaking injector. I'll try that today when I get home. and see how it goes.

yeah just make sure there is nothing dripiing out around the injector .. if you put a clamp on the return line as you turn on and off you can build more pressure just to be sure ..

Ok I Removed the fuel rail, and had my friend turn the key on and off and didn't see and gas leaking,I could here the gas going thru the line. So what's the next step, should I check my FPR or you think the fuel pump is pumping to much,or it should be pumping what the fpr is set too

if you still have the rail out get your friend to crank the car over while your holing the rail facing away from you and see if the spray patters are all even .. make sure none of them are just dribbiling out .. also do you have a gauge for your regualtor to see where its set ??

I will try it in 2 hours and a half, after I get off work, let say they spray patterns are even should i replace my FPR.and if they don't should have them replace or clean the injectors.

could be a bad maf could be alot of things .. if they spray fine id get a gauge on the fuel line and see what the pressure is make sure its right and that ur regulator is workin properly .. what all was done when the engine was rebuilt ?? was the tps removed from the throttle body ?? if so that has to be properly set up also ..

The tps was not removed, only replace the gaskets middle of intake and the intake gasket was change, one thing I did notice was the EGR hose was torn, more like it pop, everything else was put back the way it was,I double check to make sure. How can u tell if you have a bad regulator, the needle on the rpm is steady it does not jump up and down it stay in one place,is a steady idle. will find out soon enough,in 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Just finished putting everything back together and all of the injector fire even, and no leakes going to get a pressure gauge and put it between the fuel filter and the fuel line and see what teh psi on it,should be around 39psi or lower can't remeber.
