I am looking for a good head light bulb (not HID). Do you have any good advice?

I have had 2 sets of Sylvania Silverstar and Extravision - good light and brighter then the OEM ones, but their life sucks - no more than 5 or 6 months!

I normally buy just the regular bulbs that Auto Zone offers. Haven't ever given me any problems and last a long time.

Philips CrystalVision

Been using them for more than a year, great improvement over stock and they're still going strong

I have the PIAA Super Plazma GT-X bulbs in my Versa. They have been in for a year now and I have no complaints. They put out a lot more light than the factory bulbs and have a slight purple hue at night. You can get them on ebay for around $50. I had the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs in previous vehicles and had a hard time getting them to last more than three months.

Had a similar experience on my last car. First pair of Silverstars lasted 6 months - I chalked it up to something like accidentally touching the bulb on install. Second pair lasted about 6 months. Great light output, but I don't think it outrageous to expect more than a year out of these things.

I ended up going with Sylvania's Cool Blue bulbs. Stupid name, since they weren't really blue at all, neither in appearance in the headlight housing nor the light output. Only slightly less white than Silverstars, and they lasted me almost two years if I recall.

I might have to try those Phillips bulbs in my wife's Versa - after driving my 3 with HIDs I'm spoiled.

I've used Sylvania Silverstars on all my cars. They've lasted me for years at a time. Actually, never had one die on me.

Silverstar Ultras tend to have much better lifespans than standard Silverstars in my experience.

I've been using the "regular" SilverSatrs (not ultras) for many years in several different vehicles. The shortest lifespan I've experienced yet on any of them was over a year. Several have lasted multiple years. I always wear latex medical gloves when handling and installing them. Even with the gloves on I am careful not to touch the glass part of the bulb.

I like SilverStars because they give a brighter, whiter light, yet they are the correct wattage and they're legal. Many "ebay" bulbs will not pass inspection and some can even melt your wire harness.

Did you figure out the angle of them yet or are they still pointed 3 feet in front of the car?

I'm not sure if you installed a real HID kit, but if it's a nice one...it should have a built-in cut-off point as to not affect oncoming traffic that much. You can adjust your headlights, but there is still no cut-off point to the lights.

Yes, I'm fully aware you can adjust headlights. There's a problem with putting HID's in a care not built for them. The light output is too much for the housing and you get glare. The only fix for excessive glare in that situation is to retrofit HID based projectors. Not plain old projectors mind you, there are halogen based projectors that offer no improvement over a similair reflector.
