i know its a lot to read, but if at least one person reads my rant then ill be satisfied.

OK so i ordered my GTSpec strut bar. it was a good deal so it was shipped out the next day, and i got the tracking number from them, to be delivered on 12/18. so i was off from work that day, so it was a good thing.

my sister was home in the morning and i got home at around 1pm and she then left. usually ups is here around 1-2 pm but since the holidays i expected delays.

every 30 mins im clicking on the refresh tab for the ups tracking page to see the status of the package.

finally 530pm it says package delivered. at 511 pm customer information customer girl.what?? who signed off on it?? who picked it up??

so i get on the phone with ups and ask them what the status is of my package is they tell me the same thing, sir it was delivered..is there a female that lives with you.. i said of course...then she has it...not thats not correct because i was sitting by the window at that time and there was no ups truck in my driveway.

then i am directed to the distributing center where it was shipped out for delivery from..i tell them the same story...tracking said delivered and i do not have it.

she then said ok they probably left it at the wrong house....alright thats reasonable lets find out which one so i can go over and get it.

even though that i am in good relations with all my neighbors so they would of told me they got something that was for me right away.

so she said that she would dispatch the driver and call me right back with where they left it or whatever...ok ill wait.

calls me back in about 30 mins to tell me that they were at my house then says that the driver did not deliver the package it was only the helper. the driver and had a helper because of the holidays, so they get additional help and the helper did deliver it to my address and gave it to a girl that he seen.

ok what girl, where was she, what did she look like, was she outside, at home, did he ring the doorbell? she didnt have an answer, she said shes going to talk to him again and get back to me....ok fine.

calls me back in about 15 mins and and the helper did not know how to work the computer device and just input the selection that was delivered to customer girl. and that the package was left outside my house by the door. because i have a long driveway they did not pull into the driveway and the driver did not want to walk all that way and he just sent the helper.

and since there was no one home then that he left it outside....but i was home i told her and no one even rang the doorbell or knocked or anything..so how did he know that there was no one home when i was home all the time practically in the window waiting the the delivery.

so she tells me i should go outside and check by all my doors and it should be there.

ok fine sounds reasonable, so i tell her if i dont find it i will call her back..fine she says but shes confident that its somewhere because the driver swore to her that its been left. and since it is a 3 ft tall box i should see it right away..

so off i go with like 3 flash lights, all outside lights on and looking for my package by all doors, garage whatever. and guess what nothing. after 30 minutes of starring at the same places outside i call her back and assure her there is nothing outside or has been.

so she then tells me but you have a very long driveway? yes and there arent any around like mine so it had to been my house... she checks over some things and said that they definitely were at my house in the neighborhood because they also made a delivery at the house across the street so they also must have my package....

ok fine but there isnt a very long driveway across my street..she said she doesn't know, the driver left and she will get back with the driver tomorrow to verify and she will get back with me tomorrow at 2pm when she hears something.

ok so today comes and no call back which was scheduled for 2pm. so i called her back at 240pm to see the status.

she assures me that the package was delivered at my house and they left it i just cannot locate it, the driver will be at my house later on today with the helper and they will point me to where exactly the package is or where they left it..

well have him just tell me where he left it and i will look, by the tree? on the front steps? by the garage? back deck? i looked every where but there is a possibility i may have missed a 3 ft tall box after searching for over 30 mins....

she said the driver doesnt really know how to explain it and she doesn't know either but assures me its there and they will be at my house by 5pm tonight.

5 pm nothing 530 pm nothing finally 6pm the truck pulls up. as i am outside fighting the snow. i come up to the street and the person walks up and says was that your package that i left here last night?? yes where did you put it, can you please show me...

he walks with me up my driveway to my house front steps and then says that he will be right back...goes back into the truck and comes out after about 10 mins and tells me to call ups and file a claim and they will refund me my money.

ok i know that much, however where is my package?? was it you that was here?? yes.... ok where did you put it?? i dont know...what do you mean you dont know??? i said i dont know..was it on the steps front, back, where??? i dont have to explain myself to you happy holidays.. turns around and walks off

i call him back...excuse me come here, i wasnt done... no reply just gets in the truck and speeds off.

i get on the phone with the person that i talked to about this whole situation and explain to her exactly what happened...she said that is unacceptable and she will dispatch the driver and get an answer...but ok besides that where is my package?? she said she will find out for real this time. will call me back in 10 mins..ok fine.

40 mins pass by no call, i call her back and she conveniently says i was just about to call you, thank you for being patient, the delivery helper also apologizes, he understands what he did was wrong and is very sorry.

ok even though that's still unacceptable, where is my package?? well i dont have an answer for you he told me the same thing that he told you, that he does not remember and i cannot force something out of someone when they do not know. she understands that he did not follow ups guidelines and regulations with the delivery and with his conduct. shes sorry i will get a refund.

laughingly i ask her, what kind of people do they hire.. any type of qualifications?? three different stories withing a days time, and not only that, someone who does not remember what they did 24 hours ago??

she explained that they are hired for the month of december and proceeded with giving me the information to file my claim with the return.

after i took down the information and thanked her for her information i told her that i will notify the department of consumer protection about this situation, nothing against her, just the driver and the helper because it is apparent that they are lying and they stole my package.

she then turned around and said that she understands under the amount of stress that the helper is in, they are new and hired at such a busy time and she never did their job but knows it is very challenging....i agreed but still needs to be handled by someone who is competent and responsible enough with other peoples packages whether it be a $10 or $100 package...she apologized and thanked me for the call and hung up.

that was it. what an exciting experience that i had huh?

she was also unaware that the calls with her were recorded and also when the helper was at my house was recorded too. i have the clip i can post it, but thats if anyone really wants to hear it, or has actually read all of this.

comments suggestions on what i did or what should do. thanks.

Wow that sucks. I do agree I hate UPS and FEDEX too. We ship with Fedex from my shop. 10 % chance they either misplace it or damage it. It is annoying when you have to ship sample parts and the costumer is waiting to get the parts.

Man that sucks!!!! I know how it is to wait for something and be disappointed.

Just the other day, my wife had a bad UPS experience.

She works at a music store (instruments) and a new UPS guy comes in to deliver a package. She asks he if he picked up the package in the store room. He informs her that there is a $5 pick up fee.....First time she's been told this and she's been working there for 4 years. So, she says 'OK' put it on the corp. account. He says 'no, it has to be CASH'......and he is not laughing. His helper is not laughing. She tells him BS and he leaves with the package. She reported him to UPS.

I use FEDEX cause it's much cheaper.

There are problems with all of them, including the Post Office. I've had stuff not picked up, stuff delivered late, stuff delivered to the wrong address, stuff damaged, stuff temporarily lost and stuff permanently lost. In my experience, Fedex is no better or worse than UPS. For a while we called them Federal Excuse because of their lame brained excuses.

One thing the big carriers do well is track packages. When they screw up, it's easy to find out what happened. Small, regional carriers are usually cheaper, but they don't do as good a job tracking packages. Another thing they all do better than the Post Office is deliver to unconventional addresses. My strangest one was "1 mile south of town, east on paved road for 1 mile, south on gravel for 1/2 mile, white house with green shop on east side of road."

All UPS packages are automatically insured for $200 even if you don't ask for it. It may take a while for them to process the paperwork, but they should reimburse you for the price of the item they lost.

guess what everyone?? the package came in. mysteriously it ended up at my neighbors front steps today morning 12/20. which is two days after the "delivery date".

my neighbor next door said that she heard a loud noise and some commotion in the morning in front of her house then she heard something hitting her door. she opens the door no one in sight and there is a package on her front steps. all her christmas decorations were topped over and she had string lights around her door those were all ripped off from the wall which were nailed in the door panels.

she then called my neighbor across the street and informs him of what happened and he comes over and asks me if i was expecting a package i said yes two days ago.

he then says well i have good news for you its delivered today at the wrong address..i explained the whole story to both of them and were also infuriated.

my neighbor across the street told the next door neighbor to call ups and file a complaint that she received a wrong package..her home was damaged...and to find out who was doing delivery today morning??

shes a older lady and just did not want to go through all of the troubles, which is unfortunate but understandable.

we did receive 15" of snow within the past day, and some how the package was in perfect clean condition....if it was laying out there on her front step and she didn't see a 3 foot tall brown box on her front steps when she left her house every time within the past day. and it still some how managed to be intact and dry.

whats even more surprising is the packaging ill let the pictures speak for themselves.

this is how the package looked

this is the bottom side of the package notice the staples

now to the top of the the package

and once i opened it up

so there were staples there at first on the top of the package as well

and the packaging slip conveniently taped back together.

its good to know there is some sort of new paper box that withstand 20 mph winds and all this snow.

i tried calling back the lady that i spoke with on the phone from the ups office but no one answered.

Sounds like holiday mail fraud. People steal things this time of year knowing there are presents in those boxes. Its possible that it was a neighborhood kid?? Either way, another sad example of someone trying to get something for nothing...

Glad you at least got your strut bar. How much did you pay for it?

How is it?

Glad to hear you got your bar in the end of it all...at least you don't live in an apartment complex where the UPS guys just leave crap and it's up for the taking by anyone...i remember in college people would just never get packages because the college d-bags would take them and sell it on ebay for cash...so dumb...
