I did it about a month or so ago and I absolutely love it. Well. I love evreything except for two things and I'm hoping someone here can set things right on them as well. First...Has anyone yet figured out how to get rid of the shorter rear pillar that used to meet up with the now removed one? Though not quite as obtrusive, the lines will never quite be perfect until it's gone. I've thought and thought and about the only thing I can come up with is fabricating a new rear door panel basically from scratch using fiberglass. Unfortunately, having worked with 'glass' a few times I can tell you it'd be no easy task. But there's gotta be some way. The vert in the post headed "How about this vert? **MUST SEE**" doesn't have them. Any ideas out there? Second is that ever since the mod, my "fasten seatbelt" light stays on non stop. I'm pretty sure it's an easy fix I'm just not sure exactly what needs to be done. Could someone shed some light on this for me as well? Thanks guys. -Glyph

Hey Glyph,

Looks like that car belongs to 110 octane.. You could email him directly... but better would be to keep the info on the board. Why don't you start a new thread with his name on it...

somethink like..

Hey 110octane!!! How did you do the door pillar mod?

Hopefully that will get his attention, and he can explain it.. I'm also very curious to hear how he did that.

As for your fasten seatbelt light... In my car, the sensor to make the light go on is in the belt fastener itself. Under the seat there is a wire that goes to the fastener... when a belt is put into the fastener, it trips a circuit and the light goes off. Did you keep the S13 belt fastener? Or did you change something?

That's the next step of my mods too...

You're correct, it will require fabbing new rear panels. 110octane's car has aluminum panels covered in suede. I'm planning to use either fiberglass or aluminum and try to recreate the factory look with black vinyl.

I just welded sheet metal where mine was. painted it to match the car, it doesn't look too out of place. Looks a LOT better than the phantom humps did.

LOL No responses at all in a day and a half then today I wake up and there are four. Inre the seatbelt light I'm using the rear seatbelt spoolers down inside the rear panels. Perhaps axccording to what you said I could just somehow short that wire under the seat and fool it into thinking it's plugged in? I'll mess around with it today and try to come up with something. Do the rest of you just live with it on all the time?

As to the rear "phantom hump", it looks like it's every man for himself. I suppose fabrticated fiberglass panels would be the best way to go but I foresee all sorts of technical issues in regards to maintaining the oem look and attachments etcetera. I'm gonna haveta think on this one for a while. A nice mold would be optimal as that would allow semi-mass production which could be marketed to all who desire them. Hmm...

PS Has anyone else experienced the problem I've had with the seatbelts constantly twisting and binding up since moving them to the rear? What a pain in the @ss. Every couple of days I'd have to remove one back panel or the other to fix them. If you have, let me know because as of yesterday the prob's finally 100% resolved. A little ingenuity, a quick trip tp the junkyard and $3 in parts and voila, they work like a champ. I'm expecting others have the same priob since I expect like me they followed the removal mod to a tee. If so just let me know and I'll start a new post with pics showing the "fix". Thanks guys -Glyph

Post it up!!!

I don't have the twisting issue, but I make sure to feed my belts back in carefully when getting out of the car...

Glyph. Sorry dude. Didn't visit this topic til just now. AZ is right. I just busted out the die grinder and lopped those "humps" off. I hated the way they looked with the pillars removed. Anyhow, I just made some aluminum panels and covered them with the material I used on the interior. In my opinion the idea about the fglass panels is best if your keeping with the stock interior.

I hate the crap interior on my car.

The interior has been ripped apart since June... I still haven't got around to fixing her back up.

I haven't even driven the thing since August.

I think I can explain the seats, the roll bar, the loud motor, the stiff suspensoin, to most people to the point that it makes sense. But no matter how much I explain things, the 2 things they either never get or never WANT to get are the racing harnesses and the stripped out interior.
