:inoutgay: Haaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

So, I'm in middle of this project with my car and decided to lose the power steering. I am very familiar with the hydraulic HICAS system but a total noob to the electronic version which was available in the later Z32's and other premium Nissan's.

For the front, I plan on removing the Teflon rack seals and greasing up the rack (HICAS rack with the quicker ratio).

But now for the rear, it's a fully hydraulic system and I need to keep the PS pump for it...unless I go electric.

Now, has anyone ever modified a Z32 electric unit to work on an S13? I'm not to worried about the mounting, I can probably fab something up. The part I'm worried about is the wiring, since the HICAS computer from the Z32 seems to have more inputs than the S13 one.

Could I hook up the wires that go from the computer to the solenoid to the HICAS motor in the electric unit? Would this work at all? Both of the computers have two outputs, left and right.

And before anyone says "OMG, DRIIFT, REMOVE HICAS, HICAS LOCK BAR, DORIFTO", I plan on keeping my High Capacity Active Steering

I'm a whore for 90's technology. You guys wouldn't believe the things I had to go through to find a NOS S13 tape and CD deck.
Thanks!

I would imagine you'd have to get all of the inputs working into the Z32 HICAS ECU to control the electric motor for the rear steer. The two control systems are totally different and I don't think they'd be interchangeable.

Yea I'm going through both of the FSM's right now, needs an input from the sub sensors. Seems like I'm going to have to grab the computer as well for it...but it also ties with the front variable steering.

From what I recall, Super Hicas uses a bunch of different sensors that HICAS doesn't have. There are 240s that have Super HICAS, but I imagine its very hard to find. If you got it all working, it would be bad a** though.

You're on the right track going page by page in the FSM. You'll get a better answer from that. I think once you have it all laid out, a write up would be AWESOME.

The side of my car does say Super Hicas lol.

But it's not the same as the newer Z32 one, the newer ones are much lighter and fully electric.

R33 GTS-T has hicas with the electric rack (same as Z32) the entire subframe is a direct bolt in to a S14 or S13 with the adapter bushings. Funny I may be swapping a S14 subframe into my R33 to delete the hicas.

Sweet, thanks for the info!

I'm pretty sure we have more R33's here than later model Z32 lol

I'm sure you can get one fairly cheap. I know where there are a few sitting from cut cars
