there's a lot of room to play around with in the door regarding your 8"... I think it would fit with slight modification and fabrication of a good mounting bracket! Your issue would be backspacing regarding the magnet size... Of course you could just extend the base by adding a thicker ring to mount the speaker on , but that would require probably getting rid of the entire cup holder/pocket area on the door, and just creating a nice fiberglass enclosure for it!the727kid wrote:Well I plan on running 4-way set-up. A dedicated mid-bass (Seas L22) up to ~400hz and from there on a high-efficiency mid-range (most likely a BnC 6.5, which more realisticly like a 7", and horns. I just figured a 8" would not fit in the door with modifications to the appearance of the door.
on the alarm... that's how my Caddy was... o well at least I'm used to it lol.
Haha I bet that thing got quiet!! Me and my buddy are working on a full sound-deadning project on his Charger, I can't wait to hear the results! I did the doors and trunk on my current car and it helped alot.rjdmmfl1 wrote:the Mod answered your speaker questions... regarding the sound deadedning, if you plan to do the entire car (floors, rear seats, rear quarter panels, doors, and trunk, I would say get ~150 Sq ft of sound deadener. I used about 70 SQ ft for the doors, rear quarter panels and trunk!
I'm not sure as to the mounting depth.. I'm running Boston Acoustic Pro 60's in the front, but the mounting depth is only 2.5", so fitting in there wasn't a problemthe727kid wrote:Hmm... guess I'll have to wait till I actually have the car to find out. Do you happen to know the mounting depth from the sheet metal, and the gap between the door innerskin to the door panel? The Seas driver has a depth of ~3.5", which is just a tad larger than a typical 6.5" driver. It already would have a .75" baffle, maybe thicker if it could fit stock.
It's been a while since I've played with horns but don't most of those get down into the 400hz-600hz range? You could probably just run a 8" mid-bass with those and have a killer stage with no holes. Also not exactly sure how your planning on installing horns but those are not easy to integrate into a dash and there's almost always a ton of hacking involved.the727kid wrote: and horns
Lol must of been a good while, Image Dynamics now has minihorns which are much easier to install, and give you plenty of room to cut them. The down side is they don't play very low, 1200hz for the reccomended power. I will have mine around 2hz because I will be throwing them some serious power. Also I want to feel the kick drums in my chest, so I need a good solid mid-bass driver, which they don't make any that like to play high without breaking up. And I have never done a 3-way, and always wanted tothe converted wrote:
