A few questions

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Okay, some of these questions may sound stupid but I thought I'd ask anyway

1. I notice that when in the Drive Mode. There's an "A" or "B" next to the big D. Sometimes it shows "A" and other times, it changes to "B". What do these mean and when does it change from one to the other? I couldn't find it in my manual, or maybe I'm just blind.

2. I don't need to use the A/C too often, but when I do, the vent smells awful for the first few minutes that I turn it on, and for a few minutes after I turn it off. It smells like stale or sweaty air. I had the same problem when I had my Integra and my Lexus IS300 too. They told me it's caused by condensation and always asks if I'm running the A/C in fresh or recirculated air because recirc air tends to do that. But I run it 95% of the time in the Fresh mode. Any solutions besides getting some sort of spray? Is this a warranty item? Lexus treated it with spray solution as part of warranty but I don't know about Infiniti.

3. My interior is black and because both myself and my passengers sit in and touch the inside of the car with sunscreen on most of the time (LA's 100 degrees today!), my leather seats as well as the door panel areas all have patches of white stains from the sunscreens. I tried wiping them off and washing them with some gentle solution. Even used leather cleaner, doesn't go away. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

1) - that is the trip odometers... A&B. you can switch or reset with the small button on the dash to the left of the steering wheel.

2) - mildew - you might need a new cabin air filter. another trick is to set it to recirculate and spray a bunch of lysol where the a/c intake is (passenger side footwell area, I think)

3) - I have heard of this before... have you tried lexol cleaner? I believe that will do the trick... condition it afterwards.

:)

Thanks! I knew the first question was stupid.

The mildew smell has been around ever since I got the car new but I should get a new cabin air filter installed soon anyway so hopefully that helps. I'll look into Lexol. Thanks for the suggestions.

I've had Lexuses, Toyotas, and the EX make that smell from time to time. Use fresh air and the AC, which dehumidifies.

For the third question, I have black interior and same issue if wife use sunblock, a regular leather cleaner will do the trick. ;)

It's better to have the A/C (hot and cold) on more often (if not all the time) because if the A/C isn't on often enough, your A/C will leak easily.
