first i would like to apologize for not being on here very much in the last few months. ive just been buisy as hell with school and cars and junk.

i have a problem with a fuel cut that comes on randomly at higher rpm's sometimes. it is not a maf maxing out problem. the wierd part is that i dont always hit it. last time i got it i was at 4500rpm in 4th gear with my foot in it pretty heavily. the maf was only 70% of max. i dont have a clue as to why its happening and i would like to get it fixed before i take it to the dyno for tuning and stuff.

secondly, i was wondering if anyone know where to get a set of 240sx vlsd output shafts. i need a pair very badly and they are proving a bit of a pain to find.

my last question was if anyone had a problem of their car hopping when its cornered too hard, instead of sliding like it should. ive got some tokico illumina shocks and h&r springs. if anyone has an explanation i would like to hear it.

well, thanks in advance guys. i hope to get the car tuned very soon (buying some new wheels to go on it first, to try and get the traction problems out of the way) and with some luck the power figures will be respectable. its being repainted too... i was thinking of painting it a bright orange and leave the roof and a-pillars black. it should look quite awesome.

I have had this happen to, and I believe it is the subframe that is the problem. Cusco sells subframe spacers that are supposed to take care of all wheel hop issues, but I havent personally tested them. I believe Anand has a set of them on his car.

Instead of the 240sx output shafts, which are hard to find, you should be searching for the J30 ones, which are in every junkyard around. Only certain years work and I can't remember which ones, but you should be able to locate it with a search for VLSD output shafts or something like that, I know its been covered in other forums so it should turn up quick. If you still can't find these let me know, there are dozens of J30's rusting away in yards here in houston.

I had a big problem with my car hopping, and I installed subframe spacers and stiffer rear springs and it help a lot... although I also installed a sway bar at the same time so I can't say for sure which one cured it. All 3 would probably help, but I'd say the subframe spacers are probably the cheapest and easiest and most effective cure. For the paintjob- sounds good to me, I have a video of a 180sx painted like that and it looks pretty hot.

sorry I can't tell you much about your fuel issue, check your fuel filter and your fuel pump/pressure. Is it happening even with a full tank of gas? might want to check the gas sock too though thats hard to clog. Do you hit it at 4500 rpm all the time or does it vary? Is your ecu throwing any codes?

Hi Tim,

You might have a failing fuel pump, what fuel pump are you using? also, a bad intermittent ignitor might cause such a problem where it might die at a higher rpm cutting power to the coils thus making it look as it if it is a fuel cut problem.

What kind of setup do you have now Tim dude.

both tim and myself have running cars.... what the hell, this hasnt happened in like 2 years...

did you plug in the 4th gear sensor? im pretty sure there is a RPM cut or speed cut on the upper gears. i left every thing un hooked but the speed sensor and reverse lights.
