Hi, all. I have a 91 240sx and I'm in the final step of installing the reverse glow white gauges that I bought from eBay. I just have a few questions to ask for those of you who've successfully installed it on their car.

My first question is where do I get the 12v power source for the inverter switch? I have a blue led glow shift knob and I was wondering if it's possible to splice the wire from the shift knob and share it with the reverse glow gauge switch. Is this a safe thing to do knowing that both use 12v of power? In case you're wondering why I was able to install a glowing shift knob and not know how for the gauge, it's because I recently had a car alarm installed in my car and I paid the guy $20 to do the shift knob as well. Hey, I didn't know much about the little stuff 2 and half weeks ago... :D

Second question. I wasn't really aware of what my RPM was on a stop so after I installed the new gauges I started to wonder what the normal reading should be. I get a steady 2000k on a full stop... Is this normal or is my calibration a little bit off?

Oh, and for the record I just want to say that my car is far from being riced. The only thing I have glowing is the shift knob (which only glows when you turn your headlights on) and soon to be the gauge. I will show some pics later if you guys can help me with the install.

Thanks!

if you look on the back of the gauge cluster you will see it is pretty much one big circuit board. Just look at each circuit until you find the one that says "Ill +" for the positive side of the illumination and "Ill" which is the ground for the illumination. Just follow the circuits until they come out their respective wires.. that's what you can splice into.

That's how I did mine and it's been working fine for 9 months now.

As for the 2nd question. Are you talking about what RPM your car should idle at? If so, then it shouldn't be at 2 grand. It should be 700 or so. (I'm assuming it's a manual transmission because you have a glow shifter)

Thanks for the reply. Well, my car's circuit is pretty complicated because the alarm unit is located next to it. I tried splicing the wires from the shift knob but it didn't work... So today I took the car to the same place where I had the alarm installed and paid the guy $20 to hook the wires up for me. I guess the only thing left to do now is recalibrate the RPM meter which should be easy.
