Ok so i am very new to this and there are a few questions i have about the Q

1. Does the stock 92Q have an LSD?2. Is there a shift kit available for the Q 3. I know the Q starts off in second but if you are WOT out of the hole does it use first at all?

i think that is all for now im sure i will have a few more but i must say i am enjoying getting this Q back on the road .

Not that I know of, but I don't see why something couldn't be made to work.

I don't know. But I'm sure someone here does.

To expand on the 2nd gear start thing... there's a "kick down" switch that tells everything that you're at WOT. You can actually hear it click.

Also, if you can find a '93 TCU to swap in, it will start the car off in 1st all of the time. One of the best mods you can do... and it's better for the transmission! Apparently it generates less heat...

The 94-96 TCUs will also work, but were designed to be mated with transmissions with slightly different shift points - while the '93 used the same transmission. There has been some debate on if there's a real-world difference - but for the most part people running 94-96 TCUs in a 90-92 have been happy.

I have a 1991 and a 1993 TCU, but I don't know which one is which... I will be using the 1993 one in Lola when I replace the transmission.

I have a 1991 transmission that i am rebuilding for the car. The transmission shop says the ISUZU cab over trucks use a similar transmission and the valve bodies will work on the Q and be much more stout. He is building his own shift kit for me for it.

There is a company called Level10 that wil build you a stout racing transmission for the car. Do a Google search for them.

The best improvement will be from a high stall converter. There is a guy on this board that has some, maybe. There is also a company, called Precision Technologies that makes billet torque converters for the Q. This will make the single most improvement in the off-the-line performance in my opinion.

The last thing that I am doing to Lola, is to swap in the 4.11:1 rear differential from a Skyline GTR. The stock gears are 3.56:1, so this should help the low RPM acceleration as well. This rear end has a mechanical limited slip, rather than the viscous limited slip that the stock Q has. IT is much more reliable and can handle more HP. The viscould fluid tended to get hot and caused failure. There are a lot of Q's out there with open rear ends because of this failure.
