Every vehicle in the solo section trophied or won this year at national tours and/or pro solos.
It was a week long.krash wrote:I was thinking about going, but really, I just wanted to see the BRZ. And then I woke up late. lol
Only the BRZ was there, it looks cooler in the magazines lol.krash wrote:I was thinking about going, but really, I just wanted to see the BRZ. And then I woke up late. lol
What did I miss? I was running through that area because my kid spotted the little F1 simulator so I was stuck over there. Wanted to take pics of the signs so I could read them at home lol.flohtingPoint wrote:LOL! You posted nearly every vehicle in the SCCA section EXCEPT the two fastest vehicles on the east coast...
This is a "rallycross" car in spirit but it's never been run. It was originally bought with a blown clutch, the owner didn't feel like changing it so he gave it away to someone else in our region with the pretense that they would get it running and that the originally owner can rallycross it next season. We got a REALLY late notification that we were to be in the DC Auto Show and were scrambling to find cars. We had a Shelby Mustang and a C6 Z06 lined up but they had scheduling conflicts so we had someone bring two cars instead of one. We were also very short on cars for the Rallycross section.
You didn't miss much if you wanted to see Nissans lol.krash wrote:I was thinking about going, but really, I just wanted to see the BRZ. And then I woke up late. lol
Its no use if you were only there for a day or 2 without noticeflohtingPoint wrote:It was a week long.krash wrote:I was thinking about going, but really, I just wanted to see the BRZ. And then I woke up late. lol
I could have gotten you a seat in the car too if you wanted (it was roped off). I had a presenters badge =P
The fastest car in all of solo at the National Championships was the University of Maryland's Formula SAE vehicle (it was right next to Karen's Subaru, black car, big wing). It's the most technically advanced vehicle in all of autocross nationally, generating nearly 4G of downforce. My kart set the next fastest time for east coast vehicles at the Solo Nationals, it was on the other side of Karen's car from the UMD FSAE.06_blkout wrote: What did I miss? There she is, man that is a mean vehicle. Puts out about 60-70 hp but was the fastest vehicle at the national championships. The times that I drove it were nuts, you can feel the downforce heavily in your chest and whenever you feel like you're losing grip you just give it more throttle to produce even more downforce. A whole lot of corners are flat in it, no brake, no lift just floored and turn in.06_blkout wrote:
I didn't get a chance to talk to anyone, unfortunately
Kart fitting is all inseam, less about height. I'm 6'1 but have a 31 inseam so I fit just fine. My co-driver at Nationals last year is 3 inches shorter than me but fit with no issues cause he has a 32 inseam.alms24sebring wrote:Me neither, didnt see anybody. It was pretty empty on a Wednesday afternoon overall. I also missed the podiums that described the cars. I totally wanted to read that but I swear they werent there. Maybe it was just my blind man eyes. This is why I kinda hate going with people that rush through everything when I just wanna stop and stare and check everything out.
I was amazed at how much downforce that looked to be. I was also trying to imagine myself fitting my tall a** in your kart but that was a drastic fail lol.
It's like a FWD car in that more throttle in the pocket will save you.PapaSmurf2k3 wrote:yeah that thing looks sick.
It has to be such a weird feeling "I lost it in that corner.. next time I need to take it going faster".
