I would do new cats, custom pipes, and nice borla muffs.

^^ that was me, Trust me its cheep, and you will not gain any more power from a $1000 exhaust systems ( well maby 1 or 2) but not worth the $$$$. for that amount of money get a custum Suspension...

heres the links to my car with the stock dualies, but the resonator( the big back peice ) removed. I had to torch the nuts because they were heat locked.

zerothread/178567

ill take some pics iff needed, but i also have a custum CIA so the sound in higher RPMs comes alot from that too.

if you wanted you could extend the remaining exhaust pipes out the back of the j, but i found that to be to tiedious.

The exhaust should not cost anywhere close to 1000 dollars. And neither will a custom suspension. I think diamond said that custom spring for the front ran him about 1400, JUST FOR THE FRONT SPRINGS.

There are quite noticeable gains from a PROPERLY tuned exhayst system.

Hey skapunk how bout some pictures of this custom cold air intake??

FYI the J already has a nice cold air intake with a low pressure area to suck air from. I wonder how you made it "better" ?

springs were 110.00 apiece.its the rear struts that cost bucks.loli run borlas with 15 inch glass packs.sounds sweet.not drowny at all.going out both side.it was actually louder at cruise with the cat up front.but the cat traps all the tinny vibrations.without it and sends them out the pipe.big drag.first exhaust i ever had that sounded that like that.buzzy.best to get a new downpipe too.with cats its really tame too.sounds great when you open her up.sounds dont bounce back off brigdes either.i can here my car autostart from inside the house but not loud.have to listen for it.cars about 50 foot away and single pain glass, lol.would not here it with double pane.on the freeway i dont really here it spinning 3 grand, very tame.without glasspacks its drowny loud.bigtime.i cant drive like that.took 2 secound to figure that out, lol.i can feel the difference too.

Hi!

Do you or anyone have an idea about the loudness of this setup? Will it intrude into the passenger compartment? Interfere with the stereo?

Depends on how many mufflers you put on, and what kind.

When I do my exhaust I will go with some super high flow cats, and two magnaflow mufflers in the back. If you want it real quiet go with 4 mufflers.

What i would like to do when building an exhaust is put flanges eveywhere so you can basically piece things together...

Make the pipe from the header to the H/X pipe removeable so you can run sans cats except for emissions/inspections... Then put a flange back where the resonators are so you can remove those if you want, and then make some straight pipes from there with flanges to put a rear muffler in or out.

k,im back.missed the mri, lol.got home and they called back, i went mid post, lol.you will need 2 glass packs.one for each side.you sound like your going to still go out the one side?the glasspacks will fit before the rear end so your good that way.just double pipe it out the one side.if you call borla they can tell you were to buy cheaper.they told me.was awhile back, think i remember 120.00 ,i got the tips too.i just cant seem to remember whta things cost.been awhile since i did stuff.need new pricing anyway, lol.boy,im some help now days, jeeze.normally little crap like that i used to remember.lol.k,i need to review you question again, lol.hard time keeping it together now.the glasspacks are cheap,i remember that.be best to get new prices.any exhaust place or shucks places like that should have them.cost can vary.stainless pipe or not.bunch of pics at cardomain.com.just look under j30's.ive seen exhaust pics posted there that are really nice.touch up paint and a razor blade is how i cut the relief for the other side to match.ive had it repainted since tho.looks oem, lol.does without repainting too.just touch -up.sorry i cant remember the prices for you.my bad. i pieced mine together as i could afford it.l&i built my car, lol.so you need 2 muffs and 2 glasspacks.tips?

I have a few n00b questions:

1) "Borla" - is this a particular brand of muffler?

2) cat = catalytic converter?

3) glass pack - what is this?

1. Yes.

2. Yes.

3. Fiberglass style muffler, best flow, least restriction.
