A/F ratio gauge not reading just stays lean

i know i know these are a waste of money and a waste of time but i have an extra one and yes i wanna see the light show.... but i have it hooked to the signal wire (white wire) on the o2 sensor side... not ecu side. Any ideas? o2 sensor toast maybe? just stays lean in the red? Bad connection? Or bad o2? give me your opinion?

Sounds like a bad O2 if you wanna know what your AFR's are check your plugs

plugs are brown as the bag i use to bring home groceries.... if i replace this o2 sensor and nothing changes whats your next suggestion?
