Now I know most of you at NICO believe that drifting should be left at the door when road racing, but I think this will provide a different perspective on drifting in relation to road racing.

No offense, but initial D is a cartoon and is loosely based on reality. Most of the people there are kids who have developed their opinions through watching, so they don't really know wtf they're talking about, but they think watching that cartoon makes them "drifters". Gaah, damnit I hate when people call themselves "drifters" like its some sort of profession, like being a doctor or something. I hate initial D.

I love Initial D, although it is really really fake a lot of the time. Its all in good fun guys. And drifting really isn't the fastest was around the track. Contrary to those professionals beliefs. And the Enzo Ferrari thing, thats when tires sucked and they had almost zero suspension. I've read that quote before, I believe it was about one of his racers back in the 40s or 50s. I'm sure he never said that about any of his racers in the 90s. BTW, I love ferraris.

i was talking to a friend and he said that they are new in japan. so it takes a while for the episodes to get here via those people that put subtitles and stuff on it.

true that, but it's still fairly loosely based. a lot of that stuff you simply can't do, but not all of it is bs. I have them all, I like Initial D because it's entertaining, keeping in mind reality, just like any other movie. as far as drift being faster, their really aren't any drivers that can prove this, exept for Tsuchiya. but now that I think of it, the race drift is different, and I have a few racing vids of them drifting. albeit it's not the same and not nearly as noticeable, you can see the car sliding. so I think drifting does have it's place, anyone who's really pushed it at the track has lost traction on the exits, and established that a certain amount is ok, depending on the lap and situation. It's just not the same drift as we know and love :D
