last week was going to take the G to the detail shop that a buddy of mine owns to have it washed clay barred and waxed. He looked it over and said it wasn't bad at all, bring it in Friday 9/4/08 in the morning and he would have it knocked out in short time. well for all thous on the east coast what happen this weekend. a little storm called hanna. so i couldn't take it to him cause i had to stay at work for the fire dept just in case something was to happen. so ended up working for 48hr straight. called him monday now that the storm is passed and he said bring it in today. so i get down there bright and early so that my baby will look her best. he calls me to come over after he washed it and tried to clay bar it cause i was next door eating breakfest. he said it looked like overspray on the car. but when you take a closer look at it the entire car from top to bottom is covered in little pot marks from it being sand blasted by the damn storm. left there went to a body shop that a friends family owns that i trust their call and opinion whole heartedly. looked at it and its not just the clear that has to be down but the whole car is going have to be repainted. Yes its all the way to the paint. At about 4 grand. so now ive contacted the insurance and hopeing that its going to cover the repairs. im waiting to see an adjuster thursday so see what their going to do. if they say no. i think i might have a fire sale. red hot car on fire literally for sale. just kidding..

Is the sand damage that bad? You'll never recover the money spent on deductible (or increase in rates if they penalize you).

I don't think the insurance can raise your rates for a natural damage, or comprehensive damage!

If they do that is really bad!

Pics would be good!

$4k is extremely high to repaint your car the same color.

There is not need for them to take it apart and paint the door jambs or under the hood...etc.

$2k should be enough for them to sand it. Work out any dents and do a 2 stage paint job (unless you have the pearl).

In Nevada we claim "sand/wind damage" on a constant basis but it only covers from the side mirrors forward. I hope they will cover the entire car. A claim like this shouldn't up the insurance but them ins. co.'s are getting pretty crafty! Good luck with 'em!

Any "act of God" they call it is covered under comprehensive coverage... (storm damage, flood, falling objects...) and this should not increase your rates... Hopefully it works out for ya... Yeah like everyone said, post some pics

in south carolina the claim will be under comp. policy, so it shouldnt be a problem getting to taken car of. and i dont know what the total cost is going to be cause the insurance adjuster hasnt looked at the car yet. but the damage is not just from the a pillars foward. it is litially the entire car even the glass is pitted. i would post pics but all the ones that i tried to take you can see the damage. to get an understanding of what it is. its not like a few chips here and there. it is more like the taking a needle point and hitting the car thru the clear all the way down into the paint, so they are very small pitts all over but its millions of them. and the place that im going to take it to is a place that all they paint are high end cars. ie custom cars for compatitions like the hotrod joker truophy comp. when its all done they say it will look like glass and ill never have to worry about it again. and again its my comp. policy thats covering it so its not coming out of my pocket, a whole new paint job and its costing me $250. deductable

It will probably cost him a lot more than a few extra bucks in order to do a color change because they will have to strip the car down to do all of the crevices. Repaints are easier because a lot of the car doesn't have to be re-shot
