We all know the KA gets no respect at all. So here's my idea.

We (KA enthusiasts) chip in with donations and build a unique badass car. I was thinking we could send the car to IAP, maybe strike a sponsor deal and get the car built at cost. That would make one badass car.

Then when it's done, we sign up for the USCC and proceed to whip everyones ***. What better way to get respect than beating some of the absolute (overpriced) monsters in that competion.

What's your thoughts? Yea or Nay?

The thought...all my money is going to MY car. Not to mention, how do you decide who drives it/gets it in the end? You could always sell it and split the money back up or something I guess.

That's kind of what I was thinking, and if you put money into it, you'd probably get more money back after it's sold. I was thinking I would drive it, or we could hire a hot shoe for the comp.

I prefer the KA to get no respect...it's fun to be the underdog.

I want no press, and I want everyone to buy an SR so that I can snatch up the perfectly good KAs they toss.

But the next guy that walks up to me at an auto-x or track event and says "is that the SR20DET swap" - I will kill them. With a spoon.

Simple answer: whoever puts the most money in drives it :) It's a cool idea, I just doubt it'd get off the ground. although if 100 people donated 100 dollars we'd have 10k for it...although I doubt that'd go as far as you would think towards destroying the competition...plus you will never find 100 people to donate 100 dollars each :(

If I get my car up and running...hopefully SOON :D I'd be down for it if we got enough people together! I also like IAP a lot :)

"Why a spoon, cousin?"

And...I know exactly what you mean. I'm going to start saying, yeah it's a motor swap....I put in a KA24DE...(which I did...swapped in a lower mileage one.)

People suck so much sometime.

i totally agree with orion. i dont want people to realize the true potential of the KA. its more fun when u are the underdog and the ignorant ppl expect nothing out of ur car cause it doesnt have a SR swap. and all the KA's that are laying around from the SR swaps lets us push the motors to the limit knowing that we dont have to wait 3 months to get another motor shipped from japan.

"Werd, I cant wait to be done with my KA and start stompin built supra's with my KA engine "

no offense, and I love my KA, but you will NOT be "stomping" any built supras with a KA cheif. I've seen way too many nice spooling 600hp+ supra twin turbos around here, some over 800, with nice ball-bearing and fairly quick spooling setups. The KA just isnt built to DO that, nor the sr20 or H22, B18C5, or most any other "entry" level import engines(dsm or otherwise).

the only real competition to "built" 2JZGTE engines are the VG30DETT, RB25DET and RB26DETT, and the Fd3s engine(twin turbo rotary) from the import side. make no mistake, the supras are beyond fast if built right, too bed they're heavy, too.

just thought I'd give you a reality check before you lose your car racing a supra.-chet

Well...i should be 500+rwhp out of the gates, probly more. Im puting a t66 ball bearing on my built bottom. Im sure there will be plenty of supras still faster than me but 600hp aint gonna do it.

Peace !

:withstup

plus, even with a ball bearing, the 2.4l is gonna have a hard time spooling that turbo for a nice power band....That sounds awesome though, good luck on it :)-chet

Bad idea. The internet is a very big and creepy world. There are bad people on the internet and in forums, in this very one too (oh boy now that's too creepy) Now if I only know the person from a name that they post under then I will be less then willing to hand over my money. You wont find that many people for something like that. You're better off making a website and ask for donations.

the 66 is only .58 p trim so it should spool pretty good and will flow outrageous. I hear ya tho the only reason im so confident is because I ve seen the same setup run exactly 504rwhp. So hopefully i can bring everything together also ! :) but......we'll see ;)

KA should get respect. A KAt took the New England Region Solo II Street Mod championship. It also took 2nd place for the season. Next year a KAt will trophy at Nationals (I'd go this year but I'd be running like mid pack with the setup now.... plus I ran out of $$ prepping the car running 3 seasons of Autox in the Northeast).

At the Epping Dragway meet:Someone else: "Hey man look at the KAT!"Me: "Uh... why is everyone looking at my engine?" (now realizing like 20 people are staring and pointing)Other guy: "Because it's a KA-T and Jeff won't pop his hood." (Jeff owns a T4 powered KA)

Oddly enough.... we're still waiting for the SR's to get reliable enough to autocross. We have 3 or 4 that have autocrossed in the group.... at the last 2 events only 1 was there.
