Hi,Just picked up a 2006 M35x Nav/Tech with 26,000 miles in chicago area....

Does the vehicle have the ability to automatically lock doors when you walk away from it with the key fob or do you always have to press lock on the key fob? My last car had a key fob and you could just walk away with and it would lock by itself, but I don't know if the M can do that also.

Also, what the heck is centerpoint and autopilot and surround for on the radio?? I just listen to cds/radio/satellite, nothing fancy, no audio dvd's or anything.

Thanks! Love my new M! Except, gas mileage is brutal!!! My Acura TL was 275 HP and I got 30 mpg on the highway. Just took a small road trip with my M and averaged 23 MPG! Ouch!!!

What kind of gas mileage do you guys get?!?!

I average about 16-17 mpg on my M45. I think your numbers will go down a once you drive some more. Maybe in the neighborhood of 20mpg

Could I ask about what you paid for it? I'm in the market now that I've sold my evo and I've been searching around. There's seems to be several M35x's in the chicago area.

It doesn't lock doors automatically either when driving nor when walking away. Yeah, lots of intriguing sound effects. I really don't know too much about them but I've got'em all on and they sound great!!!

Mileage could be better-but this machine was not built for mileage and you knew it before you bought it...

Enjoy; it's real easy.

Doesnt lock when walking away, but it does auto lock after like 30 seconds...

'06 M35 (non x), 26-28mpg highway when I am taking it real easy. 19-20 city when taking it easy. 12mpg city when driving how I like.

Isn't this only true when you unlock them using the keyfob or the button on the door and then proceed to not enter the car? If so, it wouldn't apply to the OP scenario.

mcp6530, I believe you can use the button on the door handle to lock and unlock instead of pulling out the keyfob, on that note, in case you were unaware, I believe you can also leave it in your pocket when you start and drive the car... These options may have been included in the Journey Package, if not the base model, I am almost certain the Technology Package had them.

Yes, and this is a strange behavior. Sometimes it takes a while to get to the machine after I've opened it w/the fob and it's locked again..$%^&*&$#!!

Welcome to the club. The key doesn't auto lock the doors when you walk away but it does not allow you to lock them in the car either

Audiopilot is a technology that uses a mic under your steering wheel to automatically adjust the audio level for you to compensate for the noises created. Exactly the same way noise cancellation headphones do.

Centerpoint is a technology that involves mixing the audio through the center channel speaker even if it's only stereo. I would turn that option off.

I live in Canada so we're L/KMS and I am averaging 12.5L per 100KMS. When I first bought my 06 M35x I was averaging 13.5L per 100KMS but then I took it in and had them do a fuel system flush (Infiniti dealership only), change the spark plugs, and adjust the idle amount. 1L per 100KMS is not much but I noticed a performance boost which is real nice. Oh and I also changed the engine air filter to the stock Infiniti unit. I wouldn't go with an aftermarket K&N filter as it will attrack more gunk in your engine and muck up the sensors.

thanks everyone - love my new M35x already!

For the guy that asked me how much I paid - I negotiated 29k out the door with tax, title, and license, so without all of that is was about 26,500 or so. It was on internet for 28,990. There are a lot out there. I wanted black but got tired of trying to find it and settled for a silver color.

Kinda unimpressed with stereo, might add a basslink or something for low end.

Other than that, fit and finish is phenomenal and it looks great. Tons of toys on it, amazed with intelligent cruise control!

Does your M have the 5.1 stereo package? I am extremely impressed with the stereo. I did mention in a previous thread that it can't compete with an aftermarket system but for stock it's fantastic.

Enjoy your new car!
