I am thinking of buying a 2006 Infiniti g35 bcuz the price should be real great with what the 2007 coming out soon. Sorry if this is long but i have some questions and don’t want to jump into my first car purchase w/out getting some good info! i am 20 years old and I live in St. Louis.

So finaly i convinecd my parents that i need a new car since my sister just got her license and i can pass the crappy ford Taurus handme down to her. They agreed to pay the insurance for me but i will have to pay the car note which is fine by me.

Would it be better to buy now or wait another month?? I have time because i want to pay the lowest price i can since i am a college student. Also what other fees do i have to pay? Interest and tax are two obvious ones. I heard about destination fee, document fee and all that crap. Do i have to pay for those or are they just another way for dealer to make money?

Financing ??Well my credit is pretty new so i have no idea what i will get for interest rate. My credit should look good. I have one credit card that i have been paying on time every month and almost payed it all off. My dad said he will cossign for me and i also have a friend who said he will cossign for me. My dads credit score is like 600 and my friends credit score is 700+. However my dad makes more than my friend so who shold i get to cossign for me ??? What interest rate should i expect to get ??? I read some of the topics and saw that the dealer tryed to make the interest rate higher than it shold have been so i need to know that he is not trying to pull the same on me. I am planning on putting 2000-3000 dollars down so i hope that helps.

If you have any more tips/suggestions to post before i actually go to the dealers please post them. I need all the help i can get since i am new to this and my dad is not much better, he paid msrp price for his 2006 Ford Explorer in April so i dont think he knows what he is doing.

Again Thanks for your time and suggestions.

My last four new car purchases over the past twenty five years were all in the month of December. I began my search last October comparing the G35, the Acura TL, and the Lexus ES330. They are all pretty close on price but found the G35 6sp manual the most comfortable. Plus I wanted a 6sp which the Lexus did not offer. I also wanted Sirius Radio (Big Howard Stern Fan) which Acura did not offer. I visited twelve dealers after requesting quotes on Edmunds & cars.com. My wife and I made many test drives sometimes showing up just before closing. On Dec 31st it was between the Acura & the G35. The Infinity dealer here in NJ came down in price a few thousand dollars from the previous days price. Also going out of your zip code to another dealer seems to work as far as getting lower prices. It worked for me. When visiting dealers, take all your paper work printouts with specs, prices, and a calculator with you. Take your time and walk out and return a few times. You should also try to get financing elsewhere so as far as the dealer is concerned you are paying cash. (I used a home equity loan) Try the bank of Mom & Dad? Try not to complicate the purchase with a trade in or financing. Try to obtain the dealers cost & ask if a $500 markup is okay with them? Always bargain up from dealers cost, never from the sticker price down. Here in NJ a four year registration fee was required along with a $600 delivery charge. The 6% sales tax last December is now 7%. If you only buy new cars every 10 to 15 years like I do the sales tax is less of a burden. You are correct about your dad. Sorry but I hope this helps you. Just remember, never, never pay MSRP. Good luck

You may want to wait a little, at least until you think you can get by without needing someone to co-sign. If something were to happen to you, your friend or dad would be resposible for the car.You should lease, you're only responsible for a fraction of the car. And when youre young and living at home, its easy to do.

I agree with the above posts. If you are really trying to get the best deal for the car, you should have a down payment of at least 10,000. Otherwise you'll just be paying a whole lot of interest. I just bought my g35 a couple of weeks ago at invoice... you can check what the invoice of the car is at http://www.kbb.com and edmonds. I got the 36 months @ 1.95% APR. I dont know of they can go any lower than that right now for the coupes. Maybe in december they might, so you an check then. IF you wanted a sedan, i know for sure you can get them to go $2500 below invoice because of factory incentive. I've talked to the general manager...they are trying to get rid of those cars because the 2007 are coming and they are just not as hot as the coupes. good luck.
