A couple of rebuild questions

Last time I changed the oil in the CA it wreaked of gas. I ran a hot compression test afterwards and came up with 150, 120,150,150. I have already disassembled the motor to replace the piston rings and noticed that piston #1 and 2 have an extra clip sandwiched between the crank and piston while #3 and #4 do not. (pictured below) Is this normal?

The second question I have deals with engine management. I plan on going either sds or megasquirt and I was wondering if any of you guys got rid of the air circulation valves on the intake manifold and what was involved in removing them?

Those are your rod bearings. They are probably still attached to the journals on the other 2 pistons. Look carefully.

lol, thanks for pointing that out and yes they were still attached to the journals.
