I actually tried searching but didn't find the info I was looking for.

I have an '98 S14 Kouki with an auto and planned on putting an SR20/5 speed in it.

1. Can the transmission mount/X-member from an S13 fit on an S14?

2. Is it possible to put an S13 motor into an S14?

3. If the above question is possible, would I have to get parts for an S13 as far as the motor/transmission, and would they all be able to fit?

1. I forget for sure, but you should be able to.

2. yes

3. why not? you're already gonna be getting an s13 sr and might as well keep that complete. I think you'll encounter wiring difficulties and you'll lose odbII and possibly a transmission cross member (it's 330am as I'm posting this and I'm tired as hell. expect some details to be forgotten like this)

So what would actually be the best way to do the swap?

Should I go with an S13 Redtop and put all S13 parts into it while I do the swap?

Or is it possible to go with an S14 Black top and use S13 parts (transmission mount, X-member, etc.)

I would suggest spending some time in the SR20 forum. It's full of tons of info on SR swaps, and tons of extremely knowledgable members.

Start by reading the links in this FAQ's page. zerothread/145184

Awesome project man!!!

best way to do an sr swap? Have an sr that's in good condition sitting on the side and buy a gasket kit, replace the oil and water pumps then kick in a RAS. Depending on which engine set you get will dictate what parts and such you'll need. If you get an s13 or s14 engine set will require wiring work. If you're gonna get an s14 set, might as well get a clip to ensure you get all the stuff you need like possibly a cross member, driveshaft, ignitor, etc.

I planned on getting a motor from jdm-online.com. The S14 motor comes with pretty much everything on the motor (motor, transmission, turbo, ecu, wiring harness, starter, alternator, water pump, coil pack, maf) pretty much everything all for about $2500. I think thats a steal.

So far for the list of things I have to get I have:

-Motor/transmission set mentioned above-Wiring harness serviced-Driveshaft-FMIC-Intake kit -Exhaust-Downpipe-Dump pipe-BOV-Clutch pedal assembly-Electric fan

Am I missing anything?

ignitor, ic pipes, gonna run a factory bov that's attached to the side mount? you should consider getting a RAS, new oil pump and timing chain, possibly head gasket depending on your goals (if you do go with a new hg, consider getting arp head studs too). That's about all that pops up off the top of my head.

I'm pretty sure the ignitor comes with the motor set. Probably gonna get an HKS BOV. I also forgot to mention on getting the clutch lines and the master/slave cylinders. Don't the IC pipes come with a FMIC kit?

What exactly is an RAS?

Quick question: does a BOV connect to the wastegate?

hmm, I wouldn't assume anything. Ignitors are expensive parts and I'd double check on that. Which fmic kit you planning on getting? Not all will have the pipes or the rubber hose you'd need from the throttle body to the pipes either. ras = rocker arm stoppers. cheap and good insurance for rocker arms flying off. no a bov does not connect to a wastegate.

I planned on getting the Hybrid Development intercooler kit. Money is kind of an issue and that seems to be the cheapest out there.

Or am I making a bad decision with that?
