J30 remotes only work the door locks, trunk lock and interior lights. The trunk lock has to be held for about a second and a half before it'll open- the reasoning behind this is the slim possibility of two different cars having the same code for the doors and the trunk, and why the doors re-lock after a minute or so if you don't open them- if someone else unlocks your car with their remote while unlocking their own, the car will re-lock and remain secure. The trunk lifts off the lock and will stay open, so the delay is meant to reduce the chance of it catching a stray or false signal and opening.
I'd not heard of Js beeping their horn with the remote, only flashing the signals twice on locking, and turning on the interior light when unlocking. Far too cultured to be making honks and quacks like a disturbed duck. Or, a GM product. However, my '97 Owner's Manual promises the remote will work the windows (and the press release said it has a Homelink). They lied.
I didn't want to think that unlocking the trunk would unlock the doors as well, But I suppose its to disable the alarm. Now the way I am setting it up I doubt I would have to worry about that, After all 12 car alarms are far more simple than I thought. (I always things are impossibly hard then I am surprised by how easy they really are). I plan on running two wires for the door and trunk unlock. One will send a door unlock signal to the door unlock signal pin on the Anti-Theft Control Unit and the other wire will also be to send a trunk unlock signal to the correct pin on the Anti-Theft Control Unit. Hopefully that will make sure the doors are not unlocked, Because the J30 Anti-Theft Control Unit has THREE unlock signal pins from which they can receive signals VS the 1990-1993 Q45's two. The third on the J30 is for the keyless entry unlock signal that is used for both the doors and trunk. But I was hoping Nissan made a mistake when they were typing the service manual up, They seem to make them a lot.
The J30 owners manual is shared with the Q45's and the Q45 uses a true Body Control Module that controls every interior electrical switch function. The J30 does not have this so the windows will not go down when the keyless entry unlock button is held down for 1.5 seconds or more. I do like the fact that the Infiniti J30 choose not to have the horn honk but instead use the lights to confirm actions. It makes it more conspicuous. Plus every car honks today when the alarm is engages its almost annoying.
