Alright, so I've a couple of important questions... first is about replacing my alternator.
I got everything in and together, but the thru bolt isn't catchin or tightening. Is there something behind the alternator I might have knocked out of place? I can't see behind it or feel anything because it's so dang tight.

Second question: Is there a way to relocate or move my ATF filter beside the battery? I hate the long lines running behind the radiator and want to clean up my bay a good bit. Also, what kind of hoses do I need to get to do the relocation, THANKS!

there is a nut that must be placed at the end of that bolt-tricky to get it all together, some epoxy the nut to back of alternator before reassembling.

the filter has been sitting there for 17 years, leave it as is, especially considering the "long lines" are needed to go from transmission to FRONT of car where the atf coolers are located{ in the radiator} no way to magically get atf from transmission to front of car without the lines!

Here are a couple of pictures from my alternator adventure.

I tried using super glue to glue the retaining nut on the back of the alternator without success. Looking back something like JB Weld (epoxy) would have worked better.

Once I got the alternator into the position below, I was able to slide the rear retaining nut (by the lip) along alternator body and then hold it in position with an ice pick (or long slender screwdriver), until I could start the thread.

I can say with all certainty that if I didn't have some wire to hang the alternator into various positions during installation, that I would still be working on it.. LOL

Here's a picture after I got the retaining nut started..

same on fgy33. I used brake disc quiet, it's nice and tacky.

i didn't hear anything fall when i took off the old alternator and it didn't have anything on the alternator itself..so i guess i'm completely missing the retaining nut..

IIRC during initial removal mine landed on some part of the car.. It should be hung in there somewhere if it didn't hit the ground..

Here's a better picture of the retaining nut when I had it superglued to the alternator. Looking back, I should have started the bolt through the alternator and the nut, then put some heavy epoxy on the nut to attach it to the alternator body.
