I purchased a G35 Sedan about a year ago and have a couple questions for you guys.

Oil filter to use for the G35?

I also have a 2006PF and have read in it's forums that you shouldn't use Fram filters because the glue they use comes undone which in turn cycles all the contaminates back through your engine? I live 60 mi from the Inifinity dealer and really don't even like going there if I don't have to. Arethere any filters other than $K&N$ that are good? Can I get a filter at a Nissan dealer?

Oil?This is always a matter of opinion, but I change both vehicles ever 3500 mi and use Castrol 5w30. Does anyone run synthetics and do you get any benefit like mileage? I have heard of people using 1/2synthetic and 1/2 regular for a true semi-synthetic blend? It kind of makes sense and you really know you are getting a true semi-blend.

Brakes? Is there anything special on the G35's that I need to be aware of? I will have the rotors turned and put a good set of pads on.

Are Nissan pads any better than oem from the parts dealers?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Welcome to NICO!! lets see some pics!!

I've always used NAPA gold filters on all my vehicles. I've read about tests using different filters, and some actually filter too much-which can activate the bypass on the filter. NAPA gold filters were the best in the group.

As for oil, I've always used Royal Purple synthetic 10W40. After the first break-in period of 350 miles, change the oil to get the factory dino crap out. Then change again at 1k. After that, every 3-4k is fine for synthetic-the weigh depends on your climate.

The brakes on 05+ G35s are fine, no need to change rotors/pads unless you want to go serious with a performance system (couple thousand). The later model years don't have the dust problem.
