Hey gang,

First, let me compliment everyone in their participation on this forum. We have a great mix of experts and noobs and everyone in between. We constantly see new ideas, projects, and great conversations. It's really a pleasure for me to be a part of this forum.

Since my part in this forum is one of service to the group, I want to always make sure that I get input from the group regarding how the forum is going, changing, etc...

I have a couple ideas in mind that I was thinking of implementing for the 'vert forum that I would like to run by you guys.

1.) "Trading Post" classifieds. I implemented the sticky at the top of the forum a couple months ago hoping that it would be a great place to organize, consolidate, and draw attention to 'vert specific "for sale" and "wanted" items.

What do you think think of it? Is it working? Do you want to leave it be? Shall we get rid of it and just let people post anything in the forum? Should we make all fs and wtb items move to the NICO classifieds area?

Some people make use of it, and some people don't. I haven't enforced it too stringently because I don't think it's necessary.

Just looking for your ideas on the topic... What do you guys think??

2.) FAQ's and stickies. In the next few days I plan on reworking the FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions). My thought is that I'd like to consolidate the factual information that is valuable. More than that, I'd like to highlight some of the outstanding threads that have been very helpful to us.

What would you like to see included in the FAQ's area?Any suggestions for specific threads that you guys think belong as links in the FAQ's section?Any other info, links, or other stuff you'd like to see organized at the top of the forum?

3.) Projects, ideas, and new content... In an effort to continually improve and spice up the content of our forum, I'd like to hear some ideas for what you guys would like to see in the forum? Part or Mod reviews? Project of the month? Editorial content? New picture threads? Any other ideas???

Thanks guys and gals..

That's a good idea to consolidate everything! I'll have to try to remember what threads were really useful to me.

I definitely think a topic on the FAQ should be "What are the common problems with the verts" and then list the crap interior, trans slipping, ¼ glass sticking, common problems like that.

I haven't used the Trading Post, but I like the idea.

Sup Seth. Here's my two cents:

1) Why not have this particular thread a sticky? Maybe change the title to "Vert Forum Suggestions...Ideas"....something like that.

2) I like the idea that the door pillar mod is in the tech articles section, but can it be here too?

3) I like the idea of the Buy/Sell Sticky, but you know me..I check this forum daily..people don't follow it...although, I still think its a good idea.

4) I'd like to see some more coverage on the JDM version of our verts...maybe I can work with you on this...spend time here and there...scrounging the net, and put it all in one big FAQ

5) There is post somewhere in this forum...about "why I bought a vert"..or something like that. I used to love reading that...anyways...

6) Let's get a VERT specific meet going...anyone? East Coasters?

7) Doing a project of the month sticky would be cool...as long as we can get projects flowing in from time to time. What say it guys? Let's all make an honest effort to document our vert specific mods...

Eikon,I have to agree with KA-Te and Whiteline... as a Noob I have found the site extremely helpful. Although having had my vert for almost 8 years and no real support group, this group has been great. Having all the "Hot Topics" in one area would be great. As for which items to put in.... hmm just think of the topics that you "forum Grandparents" are sick of answering over and over and over. I would start there. Transmission problems (fixes), SR vs KA battle, which rims work (meaning rim size and offset). Maybe having a HOW TO stickie that are Vert specific would be great. I think keeping the pics of verts in the regular area is great and letting that one float as more come in is great. I hope this what you were looking for.

I like everyone's ideas also. If it's vert related questions and it tends to be asked frequently...turn them into stickies. The vert owners gallery...turned into a sticky...wiring diagrams...convertible top pics and specs...etc...all those turned into stickies.

Also...many people come on here in search for verts. They usually go to the classifieds section for a vert. Why not make a thread where you can sell your vert...or post up finds of verts for sale for others to check out?

A consolidation of all the 5 speed swap info would be sweet as I get closer to it....

^^^ Wow I haven't seen you in a while...any new pics of the vert?

Oh yea...another sticky that would be nice is tips for caring for your vert...especially the top...good cleaning products for it..etc etc

Great feedback guys!!! Keep it coming...

Looks like I'm going to be busy this weekend.

Here's a Faq's thread that I created but never stickied.. actually now that I think about it.. I wasn't a mod when I created it.. guess I can sticky it now then...

i have nothing but compliments for the vert section. bar far my favorite place on nico.

the people here are really nice and genuinely care about their cars. the work that has gone into this subforum is to be commended. i wouldn't really change much to our corner of nico.

A1) the "trading post" sticky is great. i don't really use it because i don't really need a lot of vert-specific parts as of late (been too busy with my DSMs). i will definately be utilizing it more in the future as the vert becomes my #1 project.

definitely keep it. it's a lot easier to search for vert parts in a vert classified than it is in the stockpile of 240 parts.

A2) regarding faqs and stickies - i say in the general faq, link to 240 faqs that are general for all s-13's. we don't really need a specific faq for the 5-speed swap as it has been done in hatches and coupes all ready - it's all the same. i say the same for motor swaps and other stuff. keep the vert faqs vert specific and just link to general 240 faqs for general 240 things.

as far as what i think should be included: definitely the auto-transmission thread, wiring diagrams, door pillar/swap thread, stuff about repairing/replace the top/rear window, production numbers and registry, stuff like that A3) i think it'd be cool to have our own forum within nico with it's own subforums. you know what i mean? right now, this is the subforum. there's one list of topics that all our stuff goes into. if we had our own subforums, we could have individual forums for project logs, classifieds, faqs, galleries, etc. i think we have too much information to share to stick it all in one subforum. i honestly think nico should have subforums within all it's subforums - it's so huge, it kind of needs to. stuff get's lost and bumped down way too fast.

that's just a few of my thoughts.

yeah.. those JDM 'verts are really freaking cool! You know we have a couple members who own them..

I built a new sticky thread this morning. zerothread/199318

Basically took the old sticky that I created and copied and pasted the info to the new one.

It's nowhere near complete! But the framework is there, and now it just needs to be filled in and completed and added to.

Your feedback and help will be greatly appreciated. Any threads that you find that are already created that should be added, please post links here. Any topics that are not covered by existing threads... let me know and we'll work on creating them.

Thanks guys!

Thanks!

I'm going to leave it locked for the time being.. until I have a chance to add more content and make it better. Then I'll open it up for everyone to comment on etc..

Let me know if you find threads that should be in there.
