Leave it to the Brits to come up with such a crazy fabrication. An eaton supercharger from a Jaguar to fit an S13...who would have thought??

2 bar? I'm not buying it. Dyno charts with a boost gauge or I'm calling BS.

Just cuz it looks cool, doesn't mean it's fast...

I doubt that thing could hold 2 bar.

Still though, it looks pretty intimidating sticking out the hood like that. I'll bet it pushes a lot of air, so it might be a lot of fun at 12-ish psi. I wouldn't give it a whole lot more credit than that though.

there was a miata 1.8L running around S. Fla with the smaller Eaton MP62 overdriven @21psi. Dyno'd 340+. Test rides frightened 'turbo' miata owners who said the car drove like a big V8 and sounded loud like a giant sportbike

That super is SOOOO far out of it's effeicency range at that pressure. I wonder what the outlet temps were like?

in... out of efficiency. How much does this 'assumed ultra high heat' really matter to an intercooler ? RJW went against the grain, car was an extrordinary performer = mission accomplished.... and thats the bottom line.If we drove 'maps' the car would've probably meltdown already. He changed to a cog drive to eliminate belt slippage. Also ran higher boost at one point. Can't remember the details.

I don't put much stock in this "efficiency" stuff. Overplayed imoTake for instance, heavy street DSM with evoIII 16g or 20G.'Normal' pump gas tune, lower boost, street trim = good performerCranked up 'way out of efficiency".. hp & tq increases & car ripped Look what bigtones' old 20G and cortina MKII gt28 did for their ca18s when boosted "way out of their efficiency". Record setting performance

this is just speculation but i'm pretty sure that they cranked those turbos up to get a lot of power while still retaining a nice usable power band. had they opted for a larger and more efficient turbo for their boost levels, they probably would have had more peak horsepower at the same boost level but would have had a bit narrower power band. so even though you don't put much "stock" in efficiency.. it still exists and does in fact matter but it is only a part of choosing the proper turbo for any given application. picking a turbo is give and take.

*edit* the amount of money, time, tuning, and electronics that your examples have in them should also be taken into great consideration.

I never refuted 'efficiency', just mentioned facts. Boost makes torque.Everything is bound by compromises.Examples were all standout performers. I doubt either 'benchmark' could be accomplished any easier or cheaper

well with you using your facts to back up your comment about not putting much stock in efficiency did lead me to believe that you were trying to refute efficiency without actually coming out and saying it. i guess i misinterpreted what you said. sorry.
