When the car first start in the morning sometime my A/C with come on but turn off after drive for about 10-15min, the Compressor with auto off. Or if I drive my car for about 1/4 of a mile and try to turn on the A/C, the A/C Compressor will not kick in!sometime even in the morning the A/C will not kick in at all. But I got a better chance of it working if it is 80-90 out side!

P. S I have put in a new compressor and a new pressure switch!

:help

Are you positive your freon levels are good? The compressor wont turn on if there isnt enough freon in the system.

sounds like you have either a bad pressure switch or an electrical prob.

your car shouldnt hold more then 1.5 lbs freon. the problem here is your failure is 180 from what it should be doing. a/c systems typically work better cold then hot. it could be freezing up due to either being over charged or your expansion valve could be bad. its attached to the evap in the dash. no way to visually inspect it. its purly a replace and see what happens item.

When converting r12 to r134a it is nec. to add .3 -.5 of a lb. less in r134a do to the fact it is denser than r12 and the r12 condenser is smaller in volume. Over charging can cause this problem also. There is a thermal switch on the compressor that is brass and if this is faulty it will cut the ground curcuit to the comp. clutch. This can be bypassed by running a grd. wire to the wire on the thermal switch that comes from the clutch. By doing this you will cancel your comp. thermal protection which shuts the comp. off if oil is low or comp. gets to hot. With gauges on the system you should read around 18-28 on the low side and about 200-275 on the high side at 2000 rpm.

drop it down and compensate for the system as drjohn said. 1.5 should be factory rec for r-12 so drop it to near 1 pound and recheck it.
