Well given that this was not the most legal thing to do it was hard to resist. Some teenager pulls up next to me and revs his engine. His windows are completly tinted (passengers and back), as well as some decals and sticker. So he reved his engine and when the light turned green we were on our way. He had a cars lenght head start, but by the time I started and hit second gear there was no chance. The car kept pulling ahead and fast. It was a/c 2, GTP 0... There were 2 races in total.

Goooo A/C

I sure hope you beat him easily. Have +30hp, +20ft-lbs, being 400 lbs lighter and not having the "ultimate performance" GM auto transmission, you have been able to kick him around. But, a win is a win - good job.

well done! i don't know if you guys experience this as well but i find that it's funny how most of the people i've encountered underestimate this car and how fast it actually is ... and then the looks on their faces after they see me pull away give such a great sense of satisfaction lol

His car was a stick, that I know (he lives 3 blocks from my house). However as soon as the light turned green it was game over for him haha.

The g6 was never made with a manual. Unless he spent $$$ and more $$$, it's not a stick.

unless the automatics have horrible shifting then I believe it was a stick. But I have no idea of knowing for sure.

I remember reading this...

http://www.edmunds.com/insidel...20849

Quote »Nevertheless, it hasn't any edge over the Pontiac G6 GTP coupe, which gets to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds and does the quarter-mile in 14.8 seconds. Of course, the Altima CVT coupe is a smidge faster than the Mitsubishi Eclipse GT with a manual transmission, which takes 6.6 seconds to get to 60 mph and then does the quarter-mile in 14.9 seconds.[/quote]It also said the a/c was 0-60 in 6.4 seconds which makes it slower?

I have read that before which is why I was a little worried about if I could win or not. But it wasn't really a contest. Mine is the 6 spd but I am sure a CVT would have beat him too. But he wasn't the best driver, he generated heavy wheel spin off the line. I took my time to make sure I had tracktion because I only have the stock 215's

the sort of rule of thumb is that Edmunds drivers need to kill themselves for sucking so bad at driving cars.... i did a 14.4 with my 3.5se CVT when i was 100% STOCK.... thats .4 secs quicker then what edmunds got.... i think they even tried to say a 15 point something one time..... they're the worst drivers in the world

First off you don't take it too hard off the line and drop the clutch especially with a slightly bumpy road. Then you don't floor it in first, only 3/4 throttle. Once you shift into second then you can pretty much do anything once you have the initial traction. Of course you generate some wheel spin, but once you have wheel spin you have to remember not to floor it or else you will lose whatever traction you have with 270hp trying to move those wheels. He decided it would be a lot quicker to drop the clutch, which is not what you do on regular street roads. Also remember VDC was turned off this whole time. As I saw him comming up I decided it could possibly be someone wanting to impress there girlfriend, so i turned it off because it holds our cars back. Especially when it's the 6M/T and sometimes it wants to spin wheels after 2nd and 3rd when road conditions are not great. He had after market purple HID's...

Dude +1 forreal. Their times are way off from what I've been able to produce as well. The times I've gotten with my stock 2004 Sentra Spec V were closer to the A/C 3.5 CVT times they got. (15.1 and 14.9 in the Sentra, actually.) I've always been boggled by how much different their times are on stuff.
