a/c turns on intermittently

Car: 2007 infiniti fx35

I have a 2007 fx35. When I push the a/c button, I can see the fan speed but it does not turn on automatically all the time. it will work fine after a few minutes and some times it will work the first time I push the a/c on. What gives? is there a relay for the blower and where is it located?
