I live in AZ and have a question about getting air to the back seat. I have a 2 year old son and the air doesn't seem to circulate well. I was thinking of some kind of clip on fan or rigging up a pvc pipe set up from one of the vents to reach his car seat. It just seems that for such a small car it would be pretty easy to cool off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,David

The way I have known to do this is take the 2 inner vents and position them all the way up and in the middle. This should cause the air to bounce off the top of the car to the people in the back. Give it a try if you wish.

Make sure the vent on the top of the dash in the center is open, so that air will flow across the roof and down in the back. Makes a big difference!

what he said - with those vents on and the middle two vents pointed to the rear - it gets pretty comfortable pretty quickly in the back.

Awesome advice! I haven't tried the pointing the vents up. I do have the center vents open. Thanks for the quick replies!David

Just to verify the great advice given above:

Last summer the Versa sat in parking lots a few times in Palm Springs on 115+* days. With those top vents flowing down the roof and those middle vents blowing straight back between the seats the kids said they were very comfortable in the back seat in no time at all.

I freeze out my in-laws by positioning the vents so they go towards the top of the vehicle. Because of the curve of the roof, it blows on them. I have a hatch, too.

Another option if to get your windows tinted. Arizona allows any darkness on the rear side windows and back glass, and no darker than 33% on the front side windows.

10-20% on all the rears and 30-35% on the fronts would help out tremendously, imo. It will help keep the interior much cooler, block around 99% of UV from occupants as well as the interior surfaces which equates to better longevity, and generally improves the appearance of a vehicle.

Just be sure to do your research on shops and types of tint films they use. Ask a lot of questions before committing to any one shop.

I just got my V tinted this morning and could immediately tell one heck of a difference.

I found that the fans need to be on at least 3 to push the air to the back efficiently. Aside from that I've been able to keep my back seats cool too.

I have the windows tinted. I just crank the air and point all the vents towards the back and now upward. My previous vehicles either had rear air or the air just really blasts. I also put my trunk cover back on for less area to cool. With 112 degree weather it takes a little while for any vehicle to cool off.

Thanks again for all the advice! You guys rock!David
