Dude, go ahead and laugh, but on the really old cars that's exactly how they worked.

Just drive real fast in a drift with your windows down everywhere you go. You'll get better ventilation.

Get the portable mini fans in wallgreens. Works good for me.

But seriously just install ac. That was the best thing about my 240. And the only thing that worked.

I believe it must be DOHC compressor (not sure about condenser, but better to keep condenser, escutcheon tube, evaporator and compressor all matched to be sure). Single won't bolt up to the SR bracket.

Remember to correct the wiring as well.

And I have long argued about the effect of A/C on fuel economy. Unless the magnetic clutch is engaged and the compressor (rather than the pulley spinning freely) is being turned by the crank pulley, the only strain on the motor is the friction from the compressor pulley and the extra weight of the sealed system itself. Also, if the engine is powerful enough to maintain cruising speed with the compressor engaged without taching up, fuel economy decrease is negligible anyway.

Plus, your defogger works better with A/C, since A/C helps suck humidity out of the cabin (including vapor from your breath), which is what fogs up your windows in the first place. Heater will arguably accomplish the same thing, but you don't always wanna run the heater to defog your windows.

I've often wonder if someone has ever used the AC compressor out of the Toyota prius (or any hybrid for that matter) for a custom ac job in a project car. Uses an electric motor to spin the compressor instead of a belt drive (because the gasoline motor turns off at various points). Be something to look into if the parts weren't so expensive.
