Me and some friends were working on changing my EGR tube in my 93 240sx 5speed. We unscrewed the nut from the tube thats next to the headers heat shield and then there was this huge pop sound with liquid spewing out. I was like what the hell???! I inpected the tube and saw this label saying use R-134, then i realized we had unscrewed the tube for the ac refridgerant Looks like i will have to get the ac system recharged.

Would there have been any damage to the AC system from unscrewing the nut letting all the refridgerant escape? Also is a recharge a DIY thing, or do i have to take it to the shop?

prob no damage. be sure to tell them what happened or they will try to sell you a leak check.

not a diy. you need to pull a vacuum on the system.

Finally got all the egr parts back on. I decided to test out my a/c just for the hell of it. When the a/c is on, i can hear this somewhat load motor sound. I'll have the a/c recharged soon, hopefully it will fix this weird sound.

Yea, i figured it would cause more damage. I just turned it off and on a few times to what would happen. Currently the on switch has a Post-it with "NO" written on it. But damn its been hot in the bay area lately, not used to the heat.
