Alright so here is the low down...for the past couple of weeks as I turn my a/c on I get this funky smelling air blown out at me for a good 10 seconds and as the air goes on the smell slowly start to die out.

Does anyone know of any remedies to fix this???

Thanks in advance for all advice.

Yes. Post-Mortem. This smell is common with any car with A/C. There is no good remedy, but it can be prevented;

Before shutting the car down after running the A/C for any length of time, switch the A/C off and let the blower run for several minutes. This will help prevent condensation from forming on the A/C evaporator. I've had this problem with all my cars equipped with A/C, from a few different manufacturers.

I'm also going to mention the Versa has relatively weak A/C. This is due to a compressor designed for economical use in a smaller engine, and not necessarily a malfunction.

Also, your compressor may be noisy on startup; this is normal, it seems they all do this. I had mine replaced for this problem and the new one also made noise.

Yes I guess the samething, dirty air filter.

is it getting cold after you turn the AC on, if not, it could be due to leak in hoses.

What I do is to make sure I switch the A/C from recycled cabin air to fresh outside air every once in a while. It's gets rid of moisture and helps keep it smelling fresh...

Yeah, switching to outside helps.

I've got a similar smell in my V, though mine seems to be be present when you turn on the fan without the AC right away, once the AC is going the smell goes away. If you leave the AC off with the fan going the smell lingers. One of the things I've asked the dealership about so hopefully I'll get an answer when its in for its 12k oil change on Tuesday.

There is an in-cabin HEPA air filter. It is located somewhere behind the glove compartment. To access it you need to disasemble the glove compartment. I belived recommended change intervals are every 15K miles. I need to replace mine, I have not got around it yet. It may be worth it if you check yours. Dealer want $90 to replace it and $40 if I buy it from them. Discoun_ Aut_ Part and Auto Zon_ do not stock them. Nap_ told me they soon be carrinng them. I will probably get my on-line.
