While im thinking about it.. Lets name a few cars that fare well or would be a good competitor against the a/c besides the typical 'civics..tcs' while they can be named.. we already know.. so name diff cars.. ex.

a/c could beat....

a lancer... reg. not the evo.

think ima turn the topic into a s'n

The 2.5 can also take a WRX in the twisties going uphill (and probably also in Auto-X). Hooray for a super-torquey 4-banger with no turbo lag!On the flats though...

that's kind of like saying a 2.5 can take a lambo with a blown motor and 2 flat tires. and it would probably be really tight.

Erm...not really bro. I was talking about the WRX, not the STI.

WRX:2.0L227hp @6000rpm217lb-ft @4000rpm

On paper, it would look like it would destroy the 2.5. Even moreso in the mountains due to the AWD, hence why I made that distinction. When I kept up with it and sometimes overtook it we were both quite surprised. The only reason we could think of for this is because of the turbo lag. Now, my buddy's STI on the other hand...well...I could corner as well as him, but coming out of the turns he easily pulled away (also thanks to a gorgeous 22psi boost!).

Seriously though...why do so many people feel the need to criticize and generally act like clueless twits on forums? Does it really make people feel better to insult others anonymously?I know I'm blowing this way out of proportion, but it just seems so pointless and shallow...kinda like pi$$ing into the wind...

I agree....that's why I keep my posts to a minimum unless I really want to tell people about something or ask something because I don't know about you but I tend to see a sarcastic or the "I'm better than you" type attitude...no matter how you try to word your posts....but that's my perspective.

PS - Don't get me wrong, I love the NICO forums, it has helped me alot since I've been here.

Hence my relatively low post count. Unless I feel I have something that actually adds to the convo, I'll just keep my mouth shut. I refuse to be fodder for the juveniles among us.

relax relax i didn't mean it that way i apologize. i was joking not in terms of the specs of the car.. but that it's such a specific race (uphill, twisty, etc).. i didn't mean to come off as an ***. sorry.

some of those sound really out of the 2.5's range.. such as teh g35 and mini cooper s. and also.. off the line and into 3rd gear.. the 2.5 can take a civic si. i've raced with my friend. his 139 lb torque was no match to the altima's 186.. but a little bit after.. i got my *** handed to me lol..

they can take most of the g35 coupes.. if not all. they can take (as we figured in ur post) the magnum and chargers except for SRT8's... the list really goes on but i dont want to say anything and get flamed for it. if i was to make a guess.. i'd say both the camry and accord v6's.. some of the older 350z's.. rsx type-s.. possibly s2000's but those things are fast.. bmw 328's.. 525's.. benz c300.. e320?... slk300?... the older c230 or whatever the motor size is.. the list is probably really long and i'm prob wrong about some of the cars i listed. but whatever.

Hmmm...do you have the STI, or just the WRX? Also, what mods do you have on it? I'm talking about stock vs. stock here (well...I have an intake, but heavy wheels too... ). Like I said before, I had no problems with the WRX...but my buddy's STI destroyed me, no questions asked!

when i raced it all i had was an aftermarket up pipe and aftermarket wheels. my car was fully sponsored at one time with a larger turbo and everything but not its back to stock as im selling it. from a dig a stock wrx should have no problem as long as its launched right. the awd compared to the fwd on a launch is not even close

Im going to have to disagree with you ESP...my bf has JUST the impreza NOT even the WRX and he would kill me in the mountains!! our coupes just dont compare to subaru's handling ANY OF THE MODELS. I think your friend just doesn't know how to drive, but you do know how to drive. We have taken corners in the sewb at ... what our coupes govern at with ease....ya ya ya I know it is dangerous and unsafe but it proves your point wrong

Our coupes top out at 180....the regular impreza (stock) goes to atleast 205-210 before governing...Ive raced my bf and yes I can beat him off the line but in the long.... he smokes me...up twisty roads he smokes me

DAMN YOU SUBAROOOOOO.........

I think i could take one through the twisties and from a roll. With about 1k in suspension mods you could take out on in the twisties. I race with my buddies STI's, and EVO's, in the canyons quite frequently. I don't have much of a problem keeping up with them

Sorry buddy, something is that race wasn't legit. Not a chance in hell the 2.5 can keep up with the WRX made in this century. Those things are pretty nice for what they are. In its earliest form, they came with 230 hp. It would eat the 2.5 alive in a straight line or twisties race
