Hey everyone, I am posting my nightmare of a story with the A/C and dealing with the stealership since I bought the car in June. As a quick reference I'll list all the items that have been replaced/repaired under warranty since I bought the car before I post my Service Report.
1. Replaced Transmission Fluid Lines (2)2. Replaced Radiator3. Replaced Brake Pedal4. Replaced Brake Light Switches5. Replaced Driver's Seat6. Replaced Headliner (yes the whole damn thing)
So far, thats it, who knows how much more I'll have to get replaced...as soon as it hits 10 or more I'm eligible under lemon law...barely.
Now here is the email I sent to the Service Manager and GM of the dealership I bought my car from. These bastards made tons of cash off Warranty Service for my car! I sent this email as a record of everything that I had to deal with since I drove the car off their lot in June.
SERVICE REPORT
General Manager - Asgar MoluService Manager - Richard Litchfield
My name is ******; I own a 2008 Satin White Altima Coupe 2.5L w/ Premium Package.
I am emailing you to confirm all the repairs that have been made so far on the vehicle since we took delivery of the vehicle on June. 20th/2007
So far the car has had one oil change with approx. 10,470 km in mileage to date. I initially received the car with 30 km on the odometer as of June. 20th/2007
Since then, in this time frame, I will list all the issues with the car I've had to come to your dealership with:
1) Rubber Trunk Moulding/Lining --> Located on the joint of the trunk and rear seats was not installed properly and so it was corrected by one of your mechanics using a cloth and screwdriver.
2) Leaking Transmission Fluid --> Your first diagnosis was that there was a leaky transmission fluid line, which you described that a clamp was lose, so it was tightened and you asked me to come back in a week to see how it had held up.
After leaving your dealership on the way home, I noticed that my roof liner had a grease print on it. I immediately returned to your dealership very upset with the situation. You assured me that it could be removed and you were apologetic about the situation, I was also promised that one of your detailers would "steam" out the grease and also that the scratch in the leather of my passenger seat would also be repaired at no extra cost. To this date the leather has not been fixed despite all the times I have returned to your dealership with various problems. The grease print was removed but not 100%; because its grease!
3) Leaking Transmission Fluid --> I returned a week later on July 24th 2008, and after checking the car you (Mr. Litchfield) told me that 2 Transmission Fluid lines and Radiator would have to be replaced. The leak was so bad that the fluid was all over my Chassis and Rust Proofing; it had to be washed off after repairs were made. I was told you would have to keep the car for the repairs and I was given a Sentra as a loaner for one day. Upon returning the next day, the vehicle was returned to me and I haven't had any issues with the Transmission fluid since.
4) Air Deflector Recall --> I was informed by service and received a letter that there will be an Air Deflector installed part of a recall. I was told the first time I brought in the car for the Transmission Fluid leak, that the part would not be in for 2 weeks atleast and that I would be contacted when it arrived. I was never informed when the part finally arrived a month later; I had to call.
5) Squeaky Brake Pedal and Passenger Air Bag Sensor (First Oil Change - Aug.23rd @ 5,079 km) --> I returned to your dealership in August to report that my Brake Pedal was really squeaky and the the Passenger Air Bag sensor indicator lights up even though there is an adult sitting in the seat, properly, with seat belt on. After your shop foreman, Paul Simmons LIC#E1497, inspected it, he told me that I would have to continue monitoring it before they attempt to fix it due to the Air Bags inside the seat. THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I was told by yourself (Mr. Litchfield) that the Air Bag Sensor needs to give a fault code before you are authorized to repair it. Has not been repaired yet and continues to shut off Airbag at random times. Upon inspection of Brake pedal, I was told that that you would have to order a new pedal.
6) Squeaky Brake Pedal and Creaking Driver's Seat --> I returned a couple weeks later to get the Air Deflector installed and Brake Pedal fixed. I also reported that my driver's seat creaks alot. Upon completion of install which was performed by your mechanic Chris Poulin LIC#E2480, reported that infact I will require a new Driver's seat because of the creaking. I was also told that the Brake Light switches will also have to replaced because they were making the squeaky noises. Once again I would have to return to get those installed when they arrived. You also put an order for another Driver's Seat. Driving home from your dealership I decided that the Passenger Seat should also be replaced because of the Air Bag and Leather rip problem. You said it wouldn't be a problem and all those items will be installed when they arrived. When I got home I noticed that my driver's side floor mat had white grease splatter all over it. I also had to clean some grease off the dash and door. I did not call back to complain right away as I was already quite frustrated with all the inconvenience and unsatisfaction I've been having with the car.
7) Brake Light switches and Interior Headliner --> I returned a couple weeks later to get the brake light switches installed. While the car was in my posession I noticed that a clip had come off and was moving around freely above the map lights, where the Headliner joins the Sunroof edge. I also noticed upon further inspection that the whole Headliner was starting to sag around the sunroof, especially where the dome light is located. That day I came in with my father to make a complaint to General Manager Asgar Molu; Asgar you may recall our meeting correct? You suggested in fact that we contact head office to make the complaints facing the factory issue surrounding the fit and finish of the vehicle. After I had also reported that your service department had done a poor job in regards to cleaniness with the grease issue, you further assured us it would not happen again.
I decided to return the following day with a list of all the issues with the car as per your request Mr. Litchfield. So that you may keep the car for a couple of days to fix all the issues at once.
My list consisted of:
1) Creaky driver's seat2) Vibration noises from sunroof area due to sagging Headliner3) Sagging Headliner4) Passenger Airbag sensor indicator5) Creaking noises from stereo bracket6) Leaking water from the exhaust pipe to muffler Joint
After returning, you reported a) that you would have to order in a new Headliner and that the brake has been fixed. b) You also said that I would have to wait till the headliner was replaced to see if the creaking noises still continued. c) You reported that the Airbag sensor would have to give you a fault code, which it did not, in order for you to know what repairs would have to be made. d) You said that the headliner would take awhile to arrive, so I would have to return in a couple weeks.e) You reported that the Joint was probably leaking condensation, but did not leak even though you had inspected it while on the lift.
8) Headliner and Driver's Seat --> I returned a few weeks later to drop off the car for replacement of the headliner. I returned on Nov. 1st/2007 to pick up my car. I was told that the Headliner was repaired instead of replaced because it would be less of a risk of damaging anything else in the process if a Headliner was installed. Your mechanic Chris Poulin LIC# E2480 performed the repair. I was also informed that the Driver's Seat was replaced with a new one because the original one had a faulty "actuator" and so it was immediately replaced from another vehicle to prevent further delay of ordering one in. Upon inspecting my car at your dealership, I noticed that although the front of the headliner was fixed, the rear where the dome light is located was still sagging. You authorized your mechanic Chris Poulin to sit with me so we could figure out if I needed to replace the Headliner or repair it. Chris and I inspected one of the cars in the showroom to see how bad the difference was. After we had inspected it, Chris and I agreed that it was in pretty bad shape. The factory had not installed any of the double-sided velcro strips properly, to the point where they did not even line up with eachother, causing the Headliner to sag. You took the vehicle again and Chris apologized and reassured me that the Headliner would be fixed proper this time.
As of today, Nov. 5th/2007 my car was returned to me with a new headliner and driver's seat installed. No further complaints yet.
Thank you for all your help and please reply with confirmation that all the repairs/relacements listed above took place. If I missed anything or there is any discrepancies with any of the information listed please let me know.
Sincerely,
