About two days after I got my Versa I noticed the A/C would scream for a second when I switched it on. Otherwise it works perfect, cools fast doesn’t rob very much power from the engine well compared to my old car lol. I hear it tick on and off every now and then. The first couple of days it didn’t scream now it does just once then runs normal. I’m wondering is this a normal thing for Versa’s? My old car the A/C just ticked on and off without any major sounds. I’m going to ask the dealer about it but just wanted to check first to see if it was normal on these cars. I should also note that I’ve got a manual I’ve been driving it about a week and a half only just got the hang on the clutch lol

It sounds a bit like diesel clatter. If that's the sound you hear, it's normal.

If it's screaming as in screeching, your belt's loose. If you mean how it groans for a second or two, that's normal. I've never heard a car's A/C make that kind of noise when it first turns on but every other Versa I've been around has made that same exact sound as my A/C.

With three Versas in the family and 160k miles in total, we've never had a noise problem when turning on the AC. The Versa's AC is actually quieter than most of my previous cars.

I'm starting to think could this scream be due to me? My Versa is a manual and it's been quite a few years since I've driven a manual everyday and took me a while to find the catch point again lol.. I've got it now 7 times outta 10 but will miss now and then.

a/c needs to be charged. Mine is the same, and the dealership is giving me the royal runaround. Three times now they've said they can't hear anything!!! I don't understand how someone can lie to your face like that and go home and sleep well at night.

Hence the reason they are called stealerships. Do not worry the minute your warranty is up they will take you in with open arms and fix all your issues

mine has made this weird noise you speak of since day 1. had it over 2.5 years and 51k+ and still makes it. so i guess its 'normal' for me. a/c works great tho.

Well when I have the oil changed I'll have them check the A/C because I hear it thump now and then when it's coming on/off. Like I said first couple of days it just ticked as normal then scream now it's more of a thump but not every time.

I did have another issue nonthing major or anything crop up. The passenger air bag off light comes on when I start the car then goes off. Well I thought that was a button like the hazard lights button opposite and pressed it. Well either I pressed it too hard or they had it held on with tape because it just flung into the back of the dash! I got it fixed and it now very firm and secure but.. should that light be off all the time if no one is in the seat? The dealership seemed to think it should be on all the time even though when I got the car back it's still off?

I think that light is supposed to do that.
