I just recently did this conversion, unlucky for me the car sat unused for about 2 years, and the entire system was empty of any R-12, OMG, were there leaks. So all I did was replace the receiver/dryer and a few o rings. Then bought one of thous 134 kits at pep boys, for about 54 bucks. It had everything needed to do the job, even the right grade of oil (which is type S for 93 compressors) 4 medium large cans of 134, a quick connect hose and gauge and of course the fittings. The whole operation was done in about 30 minutes. Once pressure came up, the compressor switched on and the refrigerant was sucked in pretty quick. One thing I should mention, on the kit I bought it said to keep adding the 134 until the needle gets midway into blue zone on the gauge, which starts at green/blue/yellow/red. By the third can of 134 the needle was just getting into the blue range when I must have activated some pressure relief system and discharged a fair amount of 134, I had overfilled it. Fortunately the system was not damaged and I was able to use the forth can to get the needle into the high green area of the gauge, where it still is and cooling just fine. Reading the link above the system calls for about a pound and a half of 134. Anyway with a nice milky white haze zooming pass the sight glass I am getting 35.7 degree air out of the vents. I'm sure that will go up slightly when we hit summer here in Reno, but even 47-52 degree air is fine when its over 100 outside.
