My (wife's) '03 G35 is having some electrical issues. Periodically the AC will be on (from the time the car is started) and not shut off or even respond to driver input. Also, the radio control backlighting will stay on (with radio off) and not respond to driver input.

Neither of these accessories is ever left 'on' when the car is turned off. My wife makes a point of always turning off all accessories before shutting the car off (though, I keep insisting to her that this is not necessary with the way cars are engineered these days).

Has anyone experienced this phenomenon before? What's the cause? A board about to go out? Is the solution something I can implement myself?

Thanks a ton.

Sounds like the dreaded radio problem with the 03-04 G's...

If you have an extended warranty, take it to a dealer ASAP...if not try this site: http://carstereohelp.com/infiniti.htm

Thanks.

I've got no extended warranty, so I'll be doing the work myself. Absent of having no functional AC or radio, will prolonging an immediate repair cause damage to any other components or function of the car?

i had the same problem... i had to buy a new radio/cd unit and that took care of the problem... other than taking the fuse out for awhile or removing the negative terminal from the battery for the radio to reset itself, there are no other short term solution... i see no other problems should you decide to forego repairs for awhile other than the a/c turning on by itself and no way to shut it off ( i could be wrong here ).. my advise is to disable the radio and a/c by removing the radio fuse...

Well it says it has the AC controller...it looks like it would work. To go aftermarket, you have to replace the bracket, AC controller, and finisher plate.

Here is a site that allows for a double-din aftermarket deck:
