Hello,

I have searched the various forums for information on the following but didn't find exactly what I was looking for so I started this thread......

I was planning on removing my A/C system and I wanted a little input on the subject. Upon looking at the FSM, it appears that the A/C, condensor and all plumbing are seperate entities from the motor so their shouldn't be any problems with removing it....... right?

A few people on this forum have stated that have removed all of these components, but not HOW. Does anyone have any pointers on where to begin or what to look out for? Please refrain from commenting on venting R-12 refrigerant.......I already have that taken care of.

The major question that I had was the following: If I remove the compressor, the belt that ran it will be useless. Did Nissan make a 240sx without A/C? If so, shouldn't I be able to use this non-A/C belt after performing this "mod"?

Thanks a lot everybody!

Yes you can safely remove the AC, its basically unbolting all the parts, just remove all the AC stuff in the engine compartment, no need to dig into the dash and remove the air cooler stuff.

the ac is driven off its own belt so it wont effect the cars function at all.

Thank you very much for your input. I do have one more question though: Is it necessary to cap off the two lines that run into the unit under the dash, or can I leave them open?

Thanks again!

Why would you want to get rid of the A/C at all?

Having said that, if your car is an 89-90, I'll buy your A/C compressor off of you if you're up for selling it. :)

Why would I need A/C in the winter? lol

Seriously though, my car is a 91. I haven't even started to remove the unit because I have about two hours of free time a week and here I am spending some of it on the computer!

Sorry.
