when i turn on my a/c the car will idle higher like it should but if the car sits idleing with the a/c on the a/c will turn on and off. u can hear the idle going up when it kicks on and down when it kicks off. should the a/c stay on the whole time i have it turned on or should it be doing this?

That is completely normal operation of the a/c system. After the low side of the system gets cool it will cycle the compressor to keep the low side from freezing and/or the high side pressures from getting too high. This is a common concern about a/c systems, but it is designed to do that.

Any thoughts to why the brass pressure relief opened up after installing r134a on my 90 240sx.
