I recently had a bolt loose on my a/c compressor and I had to take off the hose on the top of the compressor to get to the bolt. This left me with no freon.Ever since then if I press the A/C button in my car it doesn't light up, nothing happens.my question is does the A/C system have some knid of pressure switch?

Yes it does have a pressure switch. You might be out or low on freon. Plus looks at from the year of the car you might need the old R12....heh...good luck getting some for cheap.
