greetings, all. i have a bit of a confusing issue on my 2006 Pathfinder. nearly a year ago i installed a Stillen supercharger kit. shortly after install, i noticed that the A/C compressor would not come on while in stop/go traffic or after having stopped somewhere and shut down the engine. while the engine temps are cold, there is no issue. it operates as normal.
at first, i thought possibly high pressures or low refrigerant, but after having the A/C system evacuated and recharged, the issue remained. Nissan dealership went over all other electronics and found no issue. the coolant temp issue was diagnosed by me as a) it works when not at temp and b) i can remove the grill insert, drive down the highway, and after a few miles, the compressor kicks on. i believe this is due to the coolant temp and/or A/C pressure lowering.
with this in mind, i installed a SPAL 9.5 inch pusher fan on the condenser. testing of this fan shows that it has little to no effect on the usefulness of the A/C. i believe the issue stems with coolant temps and this fan is just not going to cut it.
my questions are these:
1 - does anyone know of an upgraded radiator for late model Pathfinders? 2 - has anyone experienced these symptoms with their A/C? (even if not supercharged) 3 - can anyone tell me the location of the coolant temp sensor? 4 - does anyone know of any real way to reduce coolant temps? (Water Wetter i've heard mixed reviews on) 5 - anyone have any other ideas than what i have?
some extra info:
- the SC comes with intercooler. this is mounted in front of the condenser but with plenty of airspace. it is approximately 7" high and 18" long. - the A/T cooler had to be relocated and takes up more space over the condenser. - i have black grill inserts (billet) and have painted the grill (chrome portion) black. i'm sure this increases the heat retention.
any help is very much appreciated. thanks, guys/gals.
