i thought the same with the low refrigerant too, but the same symptoms can happen if the system is over filled too.
the dryer has a sight glass, look in it when its running and see what it looks like. you should see no bubbles, if it looks like a foggy mist, then it is almost out of refrigerant.
if the compressor doesnt kick when you turn it on, then the low pressure switch has probobly closed and disabled the system to protect itself.
