It's stupid that I've waited until summer to finally fix my a/c, but 102* and no breeze is literally killing me.

I attempted to fix up the a/c when I first swapped my old ka24de into this chassis and it worked fine for a couple of days, just like any good-working a/c system should. But... :ohno: on the third day, under the sun's beating glare, it's rays firing through the windshield like the Terminator, it began to screw up. The compressor clicked off, then a minute or two later it would come back on, still blowing cold air. In the meantime I discovered that by jumping the relay I could make the compressor 'stay' on, however it finally ended when it developed a leak ( I used a vacuum pump on the a/c system prior, holding good pressure for an hour). I also put a new drier in it.

Anyways, I used the 'search' here on the forum and no results whatsoever came up, but google managed to find an old article.

http://www.240sx.org/faq/articles/ac_power.htm

A guy mentions a "temperature-activated ground cut" but I can't find it under that name, if somebody knows of the part number that'd be swell.

Oh, and the 'resistor' he mentions, is that the weird looking metal-grated box encapsulating a relay- thing? Goes into the blower iirc because I swapped everything I could find off of my old hatch that had good a/c.

My vent changer motor is bad, which means I have to manually reach under the dash and pull the lever to make air come from the various vents, but my blower motor is good, and everything else (inside the car) for that matter.

I just rreeeeallly don't want to have to take it to a shop, and I hate electrical issues.. and I hate baseball cards.

obviously first, you need to check your pressures. theres a high/low pressure switches that will cut off the compressor. you dont really want to jump it. its designed to cyle on/off in order to control pressures and preventing icing of the condensor.
honestly, check your pressures and go from there. thats what any(including mine) shop is gonna start with.
i dont know of any temerature activated ground. other than the temp sensor on the condensor, but as mentioned, its doin its job

I see.. but what exactly am I turning on when I jump that relay, the sensor on the compressor itself or something inside the dash maybe?

I'm going to look at the fsm schematics and see what all electronics that relay is going to in the meantime I reckon, hell it's probably in the fsm anyways, but thanks.
