Prpblems with a 95 Q45 air conditioner. The evaporator fan will not come on. The compressor runs great, its full of gas, interior fan works, but the cooling is very minimal, better when driving 60-65mph. Checked all fuses and relays, no power to the fan? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The interior fan is the evaporator fan. The fan in front of the radiator is the condenser fan. There should be 2. One runs any time the A/C is on, and the other runs on temperature or pressure.

You can check them by running 12 volts directly to them.

Do you have a field service manual? If not, shoot me an email, and I can mail you one on a CD. You will have to print it out (about 900 pages).

Try doing a search in the Infiniti Online Mechanic forum, for A/C. Be sure to search the archives as well.

according to my 1996 FSM, the condenser fan remains "off" while a/c is running unless coolant temp. rises to 203 degrees, then it runs at low speed- if coolant temp rises to 221 or so,the fan runs at high speed- should be the same for your 95

actually the condensor fan will come on if the coolant temp gets as high as qship said, OR if the high side pressure is above 250psi... I dont think it says that in the FSM, but thats what my AC tech told me when they were inspecting it after a recharge.

I really appreciate everyones help with my ac problem, especially jeffs for sending me fsm. The problem is fixed and here is what it amounted to. As stated the ac would only put out minimal cool air, and the condenser fan would never come on. I evacuated the charge, vacuumed, pressured tested with nitrogen and recharged to exact specs, gave the evaporator a very good cleaning and made sure my electric condenser fan was operating. Afterwards my low side was between 52 and 55 psi and the high between 175 and 195, I then followed the fsm and checked every sensor by the self diagnostics and also using an ohm meter. The fsm shows the proper pressures and my low was too high and my high was too low and in the diagnostics of the fsm it said i had an internal compressor problem even though the compressor was some what working. I got a rebuilt compressor from JOE in arizona, installed it with a new filter/drier and charge and it couldn't be better. Liviing in south alabama you can't survive long driviing with no ac so it was well worth the money and time. For everyone reading, this is the first i had used your forum and it is very impressive how unselfish everyone is with the valuable information that you share and the timeliness in which you respond, thanks again.
